Reading recommendations?

Any good suggestions?  Just finished Donna Tartt's novel "the Goldfinch" and need something else to sink my teeth into!

Anything by Mary Roach is great. I would recommend "Bonk: The Curious Coupling of Science and Sex".

Pattern Recognition by Willam Gibson. It's not sci-fi, but his earlier books are so it's in the sci-fi section (if you're actually physically going to a bookstore, that is).

jpx, thanks! mr. ac loves her stuff too, but I haven't read any of it yet.

octopunk, great! I always try the library first but bookstore is also fine by me.

Roach's What to pack for Mars is also really good.
I'm currently reading J.K.Rowling's A Casual Vacancy. I can't really decide if I like it or not...

I also love the Flavia De Luce series by Alan Bradley. The first one is The Sweetness at the Bottom of the Pie.

Dead Mountain: The Untold True Story of the Dyatlov Pass Incident by Donnie Eichar, so intriguing that I ripped through it in 2 days.

hah, dcd! recently finished the third book in the Bradley series. so far of the three i like the first best. have you read the whole series so far?

a little nervous about casual vacancy, the reviews have been meh. let me know what you think once you finish.

catfreeek, dead mountain sounds right up my alley. like into thin air with an added layer of creepiness.

heading to the library tomorrow, super excited, thanks all!

If you read it AC we must discuss afterwards.

deal, catfreeek! it is in the library system so should be able to get it some time in the next few weeks.

totally agree, peligro perfecto! read 'em all in my youth but they do bear revisiting. the hound of the baskervilles is one of my favorite novels (it terrified me when i was a kid) and i have lots of the short stories on audio.
