Who would say, "I'll check the TV news"?!?
That's weird. You wouldn't say, "I'll check the radio score."
MJ is dumb.
MJ is dumb! Also, the action in CA has only been going on for about 60 seconds comic strip time - how is it already on the news? Why would MJ decide to watch the 'TV news' at precisely that moment?
The moment I saw the first panel I thought "can't we go a week without visitiing MJ in her apartment? Whatever!" But then when I saw the TV my socks were charmed all the way off for two reasons.
1. The incredible action angle that the cameraman got there. How did they do it? They're right in The Missile's path!
2. The way the sentence starts with a dash: "-- in San Francisco, a missile is headed for Daredevil and Spider-Man!" I like to think the reporter was going through a list of various superhero goings-on in other cities and had just gotten to SF in that moment. "In El Paso, the Hulk destroyed some tanks and helicopters!" And so on...
