Horrorthon Countdown Day Nine! Flex your opinion!

Hey heeeyyy!  This is only technically Day Nine because I'm just squeezing this out on Monday night, but no matter!  I'll double shot more later or something.  It's time to bitch!

Real easy, cover at least one media experience you had recently (movie, TV show) and what you thought of it.  Not a post, we'll do that later, just a comment.  Oh my god did you see that thing!  It totally sucked!  That's what I'm looking for.  Bang it out!

I can't think of a particular show that pissed me of but in general I am completely annoyed with how trendy zombies & vampires have become. Their mainstream presence has taken the punch out of the horror factor. The other thing is all the damn cgi creatures, enough already! Cgi monsters just aren't scary!

I completely agree with everything you say. I am bored by the vampire and zombie genre, its been done to death. Universal is remaking all of their classic monster movies but I'm not holding my breath...

I highly recommend the movie "Contracted" for Horrorthon. I caught it outside of October when I still had horror fever and I was surprised by how effective it was.

I'm not sick of zombies!

A few months ago I discovered a treasure I never knew existed called Hot to Trot starring Bobcat Goldthwait. John Candy voices a talking horse who gives business advice and it’s glorious.

Also I enjoyed the Bojack Horseman season 1, so I guess I’m into talking horses. Too bad there aren’t enough talking horse horror movies to make it theme this year.

saw "the drop" with tom hardy and james gandolfini and really enjoyed it. definitely better than "walk among the tombstones."

have generally been disappointed with movies we've seen in the theater this year, and am finding rotten tomatoes has become less reliable as a ratings guide.

Awesome...just noticed today how close this is getting. I'm not teaching that insane overload like last year, so I'm going to be more present.

Recent media exposure: Half-watched/listened to Hobbit 2 while on the bus up to the Stratford festival this weekend with some students. Haven't had a lot of interest in seeing it, and nothing I caught made me feel like I was missing much.

We did attend a fun production of Alice Through the Looking Glass with some awesome set pieces.
