Thank You for Being a Superfriend
From toplessrobot, There's a lot of pre-SDCC announcements and news and things, but at the moment there is absolutely nothing more important than this video of the Golden Girls opening credits with elderly DC superheroes drawn over the actresses. It's the best. For the record, Batman is Dorthy/Bea Arthur, Aquaman as Rose/Betty White, Superman as Blance/Rue McClanahan and Robin as Sophia/Estelle Getty, and the characters are completely consistent throughout the video. Brilliant! Whoever made that deserves a Nobel peace prize.
I have to admit Golden Girls is a show that sits squarely in my cultural blind spot. I don't think I've ever seen even five minutes of an episode and I know nothing about that opening theme.
Still, that was entertaining. It's pretty funny seeing how little action there is in a given cut scene; the animated characters don't have a whole lot to do.
Dude, Golden Girls is one of the funniest sitcoms of all time! Some day when you sit down to watch an episode you will be in for a real treat. It's a perfect cast with well written scripts - great stuff!
Golden Girls is a show that I loved as a child and was surprised to learn how well the humor holds up today.
The idea of 4 aging women living together in Miami doesn't sound funny on paper but the chemistry between them is incredible. I would honestly rank it ahead of Seinfeld.
That.is.awesome.
I especially like how well they echoed Betty White's expressions on Aquaman. Perfect!
