The Battery

(2012)***

Two baseball players are stranded in Pittsfield Connecticut after the onslaught of the zombie apocalypse. Ben is the enforcer who hunts, fishes and pretty much keeps the two of them alive while Mickey chooses to ignore reality with a set of headphones submerging himself into his music. Mickey hooks up a pair of walkie-talkies and catches a conversation with some other folks. When he tries to interact they tell him he's not wanted and not to look for them or they'll pay the price. He obsesses over the girl he heard on the walkie while Ben tries to provoke him into honing his survival skills.

If you're looking for a high action blood bursting slaughter fest of a zombie film this is not the one for you. If what you desire is a low-key realistic type view of two guys just trying to survive then go for it. I myself found this to be an interesting viewpoint. I applaud their effort to be different in the recent sea of zombie films, especially since it is a low-budget flick. That said, I did find some scenes to go on a little too long becoming boring at times.

It does sound like a different take, but I have a low tolerance for boring, so will pass.

Judging by that last picture, it's a pretty low-impact bunch of zombies. Neither of those slackers seem concerned about a breach.

Maybe you should rephrase it as, "If what you desire is a low-key realistic type view, and you've already seen Maggie..."
