From darkhorizons, DreamWorks has landed the film rights to best-selling children's book series "Children of the Lamp" says The Hollywood Reporter.
The "Lamp" novels were written by British author P.B. Kerr and include three titles, with a fourth due in September. The books chronicle the international adventures of a family of djinn, or genies, who pass for human but have the power to grant wishes.
Lee Hall ("Billy Elliot") has signed on to pen the screenplay, and Nina Jacobson will produce.

A family of genies has adventures? I figured a family of genies would just lie around on colorful, poofy cushions all day, eating baklava and granting each other's wishes.
No, but that's how we're going to live in LA.
Except you need to substitute "cushions" for a mountain of Legos and "baklava" with cheese dip.
Actually, I think Octo only eats cheese sauce when he's on the east coast. Specifically whatever we have in our house!
Some day I'll trace my future myocardial infarction to my days hanging out in the Cross household. Man, Octo new how to make the most sinfully delicious cheese dip. You might say that the secret ingredient was a jar of mayo.
