The Host 2 will be a prequel

From worstpreviews, TwitchFilm reports that last year's Korean monster flick "The Host" will be getting a prequel, which will take place three years prior to the events in the original film.

The site adds that the new movie will revolve around the excavation of the Cheonggye Stream, an ancient waterway running through Seoul that was recently reclaimed and restored after years of being covered by a highway. The new film will also feature multiple monsters.

Director of the original, Bong Joon-ho will not return for the prequel; he is rumored to be currently working on the American remake of the same film. Instead, the script will be handled by Korean comic artist Kang Full, and while a director or any actors have yet to be announced, shooting is scheduled to begin this year, with a 2009 theatrical release planned.

Gah! Another Asian movie being remade in the U.S. by the original director, and they're making a prequel, AND the movie is The Host, which partially ruled and partially sucked.

I'm having contemporary culture shock! Throw me a donut and a Scorcese movie, quick!
