Grabbers

(2012) ***1/2

A small fishing village in Ireland is the unlucky recipient of tentacled, bloodthirsty aliens.  The townspeople have to find a way to fight off the persistent and powerful beasts, whose one weakness appears to be an allergy to alcohol.

Thanks to DCD for pointing out this fun horror-comedy. I loved the Irish setting and the grabbers themselves were satisfying and realistic monsters. Grabbers is a totally biddy-friendly and watchable creature feature.

I heard great things about this and will likely check it out before next 'Thon.

I'm annoyed because I saw an ad for this before last year's thon but Netflix didn't have it yet. I got scooped! By my sistah!

I adore the idea that the only defense against these things is being drunk. That same element features in The Faculty except with caffeine. So you get people fighting aliens and giggling.

Anyhoots, I'm glad this is good. Those aliens look groovy and the title rocks.
