Today director Steven Spielberg will shout "Action!" marking the return of the character who redefined cinematic action as cameras roll on the first day of principal photography on the new Indiana Jones adventure. Shooting will continue throughout the summer before the film goes into post-production to be ready for its May 22, 2008 release."
In addition, the site also posted a video of Shia LaBeouf talking about the film and what being part of this legendary franchise means to him.In other news, IGN posted a rumor that the opening scene in the movie will involve a nuclear detonation of some kind, possibly like the old videos you would see at school.
[JPX] Yeah I know this is basically non-news, but I'm going to follow all Indy 4 news closely. I feel like this film will be the last nostalgia trip for me now that Star Wars is complete.

I'm getting unexpectedly nostalgic because of the sudden omnipresence of John McClane on posters all over Manhattan. Die Hard's coming out soon!" I feel like a kid again. (Well, a kid of twenty-three.)
Nothing can ever match the first one though. Seeing all the stuff about Indy IV just makes me want to go dig out my copy of the original.
The third one's pretty damn good, if you ask me.
Raiders is unstoppable but I like them all. And yes, I think Short Round was adorable as well as an important asset to Indy.
The third one’s got game, but neither of the sequels match the original. I’ll always enjoy the truck sequence more than that business with the tank.
I wonder if the fourth one will have an animal-based creepout to join the sequence of snakes-bugs-rats. What's left? Parrots? Parrots are pretty annoying.
I think parrots are quite lovely.
Nothing beats the first one. That was the first screenplay I ever actually read, come to think of it. I was a total nut for that movie. The combination of fun and lust for Harrison Ford was totally irresistable. My best friend and I wrote fan letters to Steven Spielberg in Jr. High. I had the Raiders poster on my wall. I can't even really explain how geeky this movie made me.
And Spielberg wrote us back. That was the coollest thing.
Wait—you have a letter from Spielberg? That's amazing! What does it say? Is it one of those form-letter type deals or is it a legitimate message from him?
I still have a Raiders poster on my wall.
Oh - I missed all this today - that's what happens when you have a day off and have to - like, spend it with your family as opposed to leaving commentary all day!
I not only got a letter but a signed ET poster. It was really cool. I think the letter just said, "Happy New Year." It was something brief like that.
But I don't have either one anymore! Someone broke into our family's storage space and stole them. Bummer.
I should write to him again and ask for another poster. My best friend and I put a lot of work into our letters. We made this whole collage and wrote these really intense fan letters. So I'd have to go through all of that again to get a new poster.
I once escorted Steven Spielberg and Kate Capshaw up to their suite at the Westin. One of his kids was graduating from Brown. They were very nice. Unfortunately, I couldn't ask them for an autograph or anything as we were not allowed to do that.
Still - pretty cool bragging rights!
I saw Heather Graham in a restaurant a couple weekends ago.
