Unnecessary [crappy] sequel alert

From ifitsmovies, ShockTillYouDropped reports that "Resident Evil: Extinction" director Russell Mulcahy is set to helm the sequel to "The Scorpion King."The original film, which starred Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson was a prequel to "The Mummy" franchise. During its opening weekend, the film brought in $36 million and went on to earn $91 million domestically. The film received some disappointing reviews, but was the big break that "The Rock" needed after an impressive feature film debut on "The Mummy Returns," one year earlier. At this point, there are no details about the sequel's plot of casting. But the fact that a third "Mummy" film is currently in the works, that should re-spark interest in "The Scorpion King."Mulcahy, an Australian filmmaker, is mostly known for helming "The Shadow," "Ricochet" and "Highlander."
