Nicolas Cage supports bad idea

From CHUD, "Sure to give millions a relapse of childhood nightmares involving gloved brooms trying to drown Mickey Mouse, Walt Disney Pictures is reportedly developing a two-hour film based on their 10-minute Fantasia feature, The Sorcerer's Apprentice. Nicolas Cage, apparently inspired by countless tripfests watching the film about dancing hippos and flying whales (or reading Goethe) is co-producing the film.I've got to admit, I like the idea of Disney taking their concepts (albeit, this one borrowed) and fleshing them out into full length films. While most have been busts (The Haunted Mansion, Country Bears, etc.), there's always that Pirates expiriment that leaves some hope. A little magic involving someone without the name Potter is fine by me. While Cage has a busy slate with no fewer than 8 films he's producing/starring in, speculation is Apprentice might have him as a title character.Cage in a beard and moon/star dunce cap. Weird. The magic-fest will be written by Mark Rosenthal and Lawrence Konner, the guys who earned a little slice of love for their Beverly Hillbillies screenplay (and a few others too, I guess- including the story for Star Trek IV), The Sorcerer's Apprentice will be a live-action feature for Walt Disney Pictures. The Sorcerer's Apprentice is based on a bunch of brooms getting their marching orders from some Sorcerer's lackey. Brooms are dumb, so things get out of hand."

Fanstasia is a holy thing for me, so I guess I should be annoyed. I'm not for some reason...maybe b/c it's live action I feel it's separate enough from the original. If they want a CG Mickey to star as the apprentice, then I might get angry.

Cage in wizard garb does sound fun.
