Robert Downey Jr. May Return for "The Avengers"

Moviehole got the chance to speak to "Iron Man" director Jon Favreau, who revealed that the star of his movie, Robert Downey Jr, may be back for "The Avengers" film, which would reunite many of Marvel superheroes. This is great news, since DC Comics is forced to re-cast most of their heroes, after Christian Bale has refused to reprise the Batman role in "Justice League of America."

According to Favreau, "The Avengers" has been in early development for a few months now. And while many fans believe the project may be too difficult to put together, Favreau stated that it will definitely happen.

"The fact that Marvel now have the rights to these characters, that would make up the members of The Avengers, rather than have them scattered among various Hollywood studios, makes it very possible," he explained. "Before you couldn't have Spider-Man and X-Men in the same movie, but now that Marvel is reacquiring the rights to so many of these characters, you can unite characters. I think after a few of these franchises have done a few movies, they can team them up for an Avengers movie, where they're bringing those people together and doing something on a larger scale, and it'll reinvigorate all of them [the franchises]."
