I never thought of Ralphie this way, but in this he looks like Jordan's personal demon. Unseen by all but Jordan, he lurks in the apartment waiting to do exactly what we see here.
In 1990 he was described by (comic strip) Jordan as "This little, awful guy who looks like me and follows me around." These days I just say that I "refuse to provide any explanation."
