From iwatchstuff, In an attempt to get teens interested in board games, Parker Brothers has recruited Alien director Ridley Scott and the William Morris agency to make a "comedy thriller" based on Monopoly, says The Sunday Times. With the game company requesting "sexy young people" to entice teenage audiences, Scarlett Johansson and Kirsten Dunst are being considered for roles. Johansson will be the sexy young person with Dunst serving as contrast.
Following Monopoly's game structure, I assume the story will begin pleasantly enough, devolve to arguing, and end abruptly and bitterly.
NOTE: I already found this story pretty dubious, but that skepticism has doubled after noticing its odd, vague title, "Director on board for movie."
First rule of Horrorthon is: watch horror movies. Second rule of Horrorthon is: write about it. Warn us. Tempt us. The one who watches the most movies in 31 days wins. There is no prize.

Love that. I don't think I've ever even finished a round of this dumb game, but I know for surity sure that I've never won.
This does sound like a hoax, though. Ridley Scott? And even if they were selling board games past their highest projections, I can't imagine they would recoup the costs of a movie. I know, I know, that's supposed to happen when people go see the movie, but do you see what I mean? Are board game sales and ticket sales even in the same league?
Maybe it's financed with Monopoly money.
It is baffling how such a shitty, shitty game can enjoy decades of success. Why not just put a pan on your head and beat it with a spoon for 2 hours. You get the same effect.
And it's not even the first movie based on a board game. Anyone else remember the Clue the Movie gimmick that boasted 3 different endings?
Speaking of Clue, did you know that in the original version Mr. Green was originally named Reverend Green but the Fundies had it changed as it was wrong to suggest a man of the cloth be involved in murder.
Yeah because men of the cloth never do anything bad.
