Happy Easter! Jake especially liked the Star Wars eggs. Hope he doesn't want me to recreate those next year!
Happy Easter. A holiday I really haven't celebrated since I was a kid. I guess next year we will have a reason to get all Easter-y, though.
When I was a kid, Easter was like a sub-Christmas. DCD and I would wake up and search for the two Easter baskets hidden for us in the house. (We each had two, so if we found the other person's basket we'd wouldn't ruin the game.)
The actual baskets were the same ones every year, just re-stocked with a candy horde and a bunch of that 'orrible Easter grass. We both had a big basket and a small basket, and the big one would feature one toy. (DCD got a Princess Leia figure one year, and I can clearly recall the photo on the blister card: Leia standing in the Rebel control room, looking concerned.) After finding the baskets it would just be a regular Sunday, hanging out and chilling. Just with lots of candy.
When my Dad remarried and we got our new stepmom and four new siblings (including Landshark), Easter became lamity lame lame. This is because the new gang were all practicing Catholics, something they've all given up by now or I wouldn't be writing this so frankly. We'd all have to get up early, dress up and go to church. The hassle of getting all of us ready would make everyone cranky with each other, which was just a prelude for then having to go to stupid church. Stand up, sit down, stand up, mumble "and also with you" with everybody else, stand up again, etc. etc. At that point in my life I no longer expected hidden baskets of candy, but how this beat sitting around the house in your PJs was never revealed to me.
Happy Easter everybody!
What Star Wars character is that between Darth Maul and the Stormtrooper?
Aw. I should have hidden a basket of candy for you.
We had a similar Easter, Octo. We would follow a set of "clues" to find our Easter baskets. Often the clues would lead us down the wrong path and we'd be foiled by the "Evil Easter bunny". My greatest gift occured when I was 5, before JSP existed. I woke up to find a Big Jim Camper, check it out here, http://www.geocities.com/md_dude1/Camper.jpg
I think Big Jim was the Canadian version of GI Joe (We lived in Nova Scotia at the time).
Octo, I believe that's Asajj Ventress from the Clone Wars cartoon. Check her out here, http://www.razorsedgecollectibles.com/catalog/images/Asajj%20Ventress%20Character%20Key%20Untouched.jpg
I thought that might be her. You can hyperlink in comments too, you know.
We hid baskets for Jake and Maggie today, because clearly that is the Easter we were going to emulate - not the lamity lame lame of churchy past!
Easter and Halloween were favorite "holidays" of mine as they were really all about the candy. To which I am a slave to this day!
