Lost Season 5 Finale Will Leave You Wondering How The Show Can Continue

From slashfilm [non-spoiler], Michael Emerson, who plays Ben Linus on ABC’s LOST, says that the season finale for Season Five will make you want to eat your soul.

“Ours is a show that specializes in big shock endings, but I think season five…” Emerson tells E Online. “None of the other shock endings left me wondering how the show goes on. We have two kinds of huge shocks at the end of this one. Each one alone would be enough to keep an audience eating its own soul for the whole hiatus, but with two, I don’t know what you can do with that.”

I'm gonna wing a prediction here, but for the spoiler-conscious I'll do it in the following comment.

If you're all caught up there won't be a problem. I have no special knowledge.

But if you're not, maybe DON'T READ ANY FURTHER.

And honestly, this isn't too much of a limb if you think about it:

Jack's gang's attempts to set off the bomb and alter the past, combined with Kate's attempts to stop him, are going to cause the very things Jack's trying to prevent. He'll find out that he would've actually changed history by not doing anything. Just like Sayid cemented Ben's alliance with the Others by shooting him.

Meanwhile, whatever Richard saw that made him think all the time-traveling 815ers died is actually going to be them jumping forward in time once again to reunite with the present.

I might be wrong, of course, but probably not about the deterministic timeline thing. I feel like that's been tested enough already.

I agree with you Octo on all points so if you're wrong then I'm joining you on that sinking ship. We were just discussing this at work today and pretty much came up with the same basic assessment. Can't wait to find out :)
