Nicolas Cage's "Drive Angry 3D" is a Disaster at Box Office

From worstpreviews, There were two new wide releases this weekend, the Farrelly brothers' R-rated comedy "Hall Pass" and Nicolas Cage's "Drive Angry 3D." Both underperformed at the box office.

"Hall Pass" landed in second place with $13.4 million, just behind "Gnomeo and Juliet," which landed in first. "Hall Pass" cost $36 million to develop, and Warner Bros was hoping to open at least a few million higher. Either way, the comedy will likely be able to make its budget back.

"Drive Angry 3D," however, has no chance of making anything back. The film cost around $50 million and grossed only $5.1 million, which was only good enough to take ninth place at the box office.

Not surprising. I mean seriously - "Drive Angry" is the name of your movie?? Nicolas Cage, what happened to you?

Although - we did just see Kick-Ass the other night and he wasn't bad in that.

Nicholas Cage seems to be turning into a charicature of himself as he ages. Like his skull is slowly trying to emerge from his face. Nevertheless, I was hoping Drive Angry would be good, mostly because William Fichtner as a demon sounded like a good move.

I can count on one hand how many of his feature movies I loved, literally!

Raising Arizona
Kick Ass
Season of the Witch
Leaving Las Vegas
Adaptation

There are some others I like but he is not the main star in them. Eh, what should we expect from a guy who only has one look.

I thought Kick Ass was great, too!

Raising Arizona is also one of my favorite movies. But that's about it for NC. Oh wait!! He was in Valley Girl! I used to know that movie line by line. Sigh. He was pretty damn cute then, too. None of this skull emerging stuff.

I was gonna add Valley Girl!

In theory I really like Nicolas Cage, but his clunkers do clunk rather clunktastically. I caught Knowing on cable a while ago and I'd like to tear it up for the 'thon one day, but that means I'd have to watch it again. Shiver.

I loved Rumble Fish and Cotton Club but I don't consider him the main actor in either.
