2012 ***1/2
Octo I found another animated severed arm flick!
David Wong’s life becomes a surreal mish mash of reading minds, seeing the future and fighting deadly creatures (like a frozen meat monster) after being injected with a strange living uh…drug? creature? thing? called soy sauce. He embarks on a mission to save his friend John, who is talking to him through bratwurst. Does this sound confusing? Well it gels together as David relays his story to a curious reporter played by Paul Giamatti.
This is a fast paced, twisty turny super fun flick. I really enjoy this kind of comedy horror, not overly campy and the creatures do pose a real threat. I liked all of the characters involved which is rare and the story was interesting. As an added bonus, it also stars Clancy Brown who has been giving Lance Henricksen a run for his money in the “old guys that get cast frequently” race. As always he delivers a satisfying performance.
This is a good film to keep onboard for later into the month when you get a little weary from all the serious horror and just need to sit back and be entertained.

So... does John die in the end?
Yes. No. Maybe.
I watched this a few months ago! The book it's based on was written by one of the writers over at Cracked.com. I should 'thon it, too! Cat's right, it's pretty damn good.
hah hah! you go, cat, no spoiling! :)
Oh, and thanks Cat for scouting out severed arm flicks for me! I'd actually forgotten!
that shot of paul giamatti needs to be someone's avatar.
Groovy! I feel like Cat reviews a lot of movies with really strange titles. Just looking at the title to this one I knew it was going to be a Cat post!
