(2012) ***1/2
Juan and his best friend Lazaro are Cuban slackers (and petty criminals), until their peaceful and relaxed lifestyle is interrupted by a scourge of zombies, or "dissidents," and Juan decides to take advantage of the new business opportunity.
Juan of the Dead is obviously an homage to Sean of the Dead, but has a charm all its own. Loaded with deadpan humor and action, this would be a good one to throw in the queue when you need something a little lighter.

Comment catch-up! Only a day later and I'm way behind...
I just realized that "Juan of the dead," unlike "Shaun of the dead," doesn't have a real-word pun that it's making, i.e. "Shaun" rhymes with "Dawn" (of the dead) but "Juan" doesn't and only refers back to Shaun. Is this mike on?
