Cannibal Holocaust to gross us out once again
From darkhorizons, “Relevant Entertainment will remake Italian helmer Ruggero Deodato's 1980 cult horror film "Cannibal Holocaust", a gorefest that's been banned in dozens of countries.
The story centers on a professor traveling to South America to find out what happened to a film crew that disappeared while shooting a documentary about reputed cannibal tribes.
He eventually discovers the remains of the crew and several reels of undeveloped film, which show the disastrous consequences of the crew's decision to provoke the natives.
Deodato shot the pic in documentary style and was jailed briefly after the Italian premiere until he could prove the actors were unharmed.
Shooting on the remake is scheduled to begin this Summer reports Variety.”

Ha! You know they won't even touch the amoral depravity of the original. Like Bloodsucking Freaks or the Japanese "tentacle-rape" subgenre of anime, this movie displays a show-offy level of sleaze, a "what ELSE can we get away with" attitude that made a supposedly hardened viewer like myself (almost) stop watching.
How could they even touch this? Remember in the framing story, where the guy gains the tribe's trust by bathing naked with three of the tribe girls? You need 70's logic to come up with ideas like that. Or porno logic.
I should probably watch this for the 'thon this year, seeing as how much I'm gabbing about it now.
I might add that The Blair Witch Project borrowed heavily from this.
I've been meaning to review this for a while now because it was so memorable but there is no chance in hell I'll ever watch it again.
As the story goes, Lauren and I slept over Jeff's place in Norwood on CHRISTMAS FREAKIN' EVE and he convinced us that it watching this movie was the best thing we could do for ourselves. (If you liked Blair Witch etc.) We watched it on his foldout couch and watched it without saying a word in its entirety. When it ended, I looked over at her and she just started sobbing. The way it was presented without any trace of hope or compassion just killed me. So if I were to review it, I'd give it * or *****.
Man, I should really read what I write before I post. Bah. Anyway, I find it really hard to find any kind of joy out of watching this kind of stuff because it presents humanity as solely barbaric. Oh wait, I just said the same thing. Maybe I shouldn't post this...
No no, I'm with you on this one.
This movie is just a series of atrocities.
