*yawn*, another JAWS documentary

From iwatchstuff, Jaws fans will want to check out the new trailer to The Shark is Still Working from the official site. This as-yet-undistributed documentary goes through the making of, difficulties, reaction, and continuing popularity of the movie that defined the blockbuster. No news on if it covers how Richard Dreyfuss somehow became a crazy meth head.

Wait - when did Richard Dreyfus become a crazy meth head?? I missed that.
This is still one of those movies that I will watch to the end whenever I catch it running for the umpteenth time on TNT. Can't help myself.

Jaws, like Close Encounters of a Third Kind, is shot in that "I wanna be Robert Altman" style in which a lot of people are talking at the same time (fortunately that's not happening constantly because deep down Spielberg knew better).

However that style, combined with the 70's New England background, always makes me feel like Jaws is a little window into my childhood summers. Like those weeks during which all my cousins would come over and we'd go sailing and swimming and present our parents with non-stop chaos that had nothing to do with sharks. I love that movie.

I think Dreyfus just looks like a crazy meth-head in this picture, which is of course enough for the internet.

Don't forget chopping and stacking wood. The fun lasted all year long!

JPX, at least you never had to "Put two shovelfuls in, and shake it down good!"
(I refer to our beast of a coal stove)
