David Yates To Direct Final Harry Potter Movie?

From cinemablend, It looks like the final Harry Potter movie may have a director, and it’s a previous helmer. Breathe a sigh of relief, I’m not talking about Christopher Columbus. According to author Lois Lowry it’s David Yates.

The news comes from her blog where she says, “David Yates, the director currently working on the next Harry Potter film, was supposed to begin The Giver film next. But he has just decided he wants to do the final Harry Potter first, thereby postponing The Giver by several years.”

It’s not official yet, and won’t be until Warner Brothers either confirms the story or makes an announcement of their own. It does however make sense. Yates is a known commodity. He’s already directed Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, and right now he’s working on Half-Blood Prince. His Potter movies have made plenty of money, fans seem happy, so there’s really no reason for Warner Brothers to rock the boat by bringing in someone exciting. Why not stick with vanilla? It’s worked so far. Just don’t expect Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows to win any Oscars. For a shot at that, they’d need to bring back Cuaron.

How nice to get the credit for the money a Harry Potter movie makes. I bought a couple of the books, do I get any credit?
