Miller to make Hard Boiled??!
From AICN, Count me in with the legions of folk who were less-than-impressed with the recently revealed teaser (HERE) for Frank Miller's adaptation of THE SPIRIT.
Personally, I thought it looked like an under-financed test reel for SKY CAPTAIN. Nothing about that trailer made me want to sit my ass in a theater and watch that movie.
As such, I'm not sure what to make of this news - which comes from an article just posted at MTV's Movie Blog. Seems he's horny to bring his comic miniseries HARD BOILED (available HERE) to the big screen.
MTV News can exclusively reveal that the acclaimed three-issue miniseries is once again inching closer to a Hollywood reality, this time under the tutelage of “Spirit” producer Deborah Del Prete.
[EDIT]
But that’s not all…after co-directing “Sin City” and single-handedly helming the upcoming adaptation of Will Eisner’s “The Spirit,” Miller has decided that the only person he’d want directing a “Hard Boiled” movie is himself.
...says THIS ARTICLE at MTV.
To be fair, it's hard to know what exactly this means without seeing the whole of THE SPIRIT - all we can do is malign or embrace what little we've been exposed to thus far. If this weekend's Talkbacks for the trailer were any indicator, maybe Miller & Co. should think about cutting a different promo for the film...fast.
I would, however, like to express my heartfelt appreciation to Frank for advancing the notion of CGI cats. The only good cat is an easily deletable cat. If these "delete-a-cats" eventually diffuse into the real world? A better place it would be!
