So what's on Disney's slate?

From AICN, WALL*E-WONKA, who has contributed to AICN before, sent along a few details about what Disney has coming up in a few years. At the moment, all roads lead to early 2011.

He says the new TRON project will be presented in 3D.

CARS 2 is also being eyed for a 2011 slot, along with a third NATIONAL TREASURE film and a fourth PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN.

In regards to PIRATES, two dramatically conflicting assessments about how a fourth film might be approached have been making the rounds.

Some indications suggest the film's story would be far more contained than its predecessors, allowing for a budget-friendly downsizing.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, there's been unsubstantiated talk that a fourth film would go the other way completely...think in terms of ultra fantastical (dinosaurs, Jules Verne-esque floating fortresses, etc.) Not sure how I feel about either notion, to be honest. Not sure if I even care to see a fourth PIRATES film at all.

It's a long time before 2011 & things are likely to change a bit between now & then...so don't this info as being set in stone. For example, it might make far more sense...in many ways...to spread these projects out, presuming all of them (or only some of them) come to fruition.

More on this as more comes in...

TRON" will be in
3-D, slated for Spring 2011 and also coming in 2011;
CARS 2, National Treasure 3 and Pirates 4, no plot on
any of those yet.

Facebook Bans Untraceable Promotion Page

From cinemablend, Remember the movie Untraceable? Yeah, neither did I until a few minutes ago. It came out in January, and starred Diane Lane as a cyber crimes expert tracking down a serial killer who lured people to a website so they could watch murders take place. Yeah, y’know, another entry in the torture porn genre.

Now Untraceable is angling for a release in Europe, but it’s hit a snag in its promotional campaign. Variety reports that Facebook has refused to host a page that tied in with the movie, allowing users to see more video of one of the film’s torture scenes the more people who came to the page. Facebook banned the page based on the rule that “pages that are hateful, threatening, or obscene are not allowed."

I haven’t even seen Untraceable, but good on them. The blurring of the line between torture-as-entertainment and torture-as-uh-torture has been going too far for years now, especially given that the United States is doing real torture at Guantanamo as we speak. If Untraceable were a quality movie with interesting things to say about crime, then maybe I’d cry foul at Facebook’s censorship, but it’s hard to feel sympathy for a callow promotional campaign for a callow movie. Plus, Facebook, unlike the government, is a private company, so it can censor all it pleases.

Even if you’re not being a whiny liberal like I am right now, you can probably agree that Facebook advertising is just plain annoying. So thank you, Facebook, for saving us all from more irritation, not to mention some pretty offensive torture.

Fox Eyeing 'Family Guy' Spinoff for Cleveland!

(FROM HOLLYWOOD REPORTER) – Cleveland, Peter's level-headed (and sorta hen-pecked) drinking buddy on the animated Fox series Family Guy, could be getting his own show. Fox and 20th Century Fox are developing a spinoff centered on the character, written by Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane, Mike Henry (who voices the character), and Simpsons alum Rich Appel, who is an executive producer on Fox's other animated MacFarlane series, American Dad. The project is tentatively titled (wait for it...)Cleveland. (Hollywood Reporter)

Bug porn?

From iwatchstuff, So, remember when you saw those images of Isabella Rossellini--dressed as various insects, arachnids, and mollusks--humping prop insects, arachnids, and mollusks? And how, after you ascertained this was somehow reality--that Isabella Rosellini was truly mounting a giant cardboard fly behind a pool of vomit--you wanted nothing else from life but to see more?

Me too. So watch this short preview of Green Porno from Sundance Channel. And make sure to watch to the end, where I think she implies that bug pornography marks a watershed moment in film, equivalent to the addition of sound. I wish I could say I disagree.

Check out the trailer here

So, Gerard Butler WILL be in 'Watchmen'!

From iwatchstuff, Gerard Butler, long-rumored for a part in Zack Snyder's Watchmen adaptation, has admitted that he is providing the voiceover for the Tales of the Black Freighter section of the film--the pirate part of the comic that you mostly skipped over but pretended to enjoy as a brilliant post-modern parallel. Additionally, the actor noted that the section will be done in the style of Japanese anime. In fitting with that aesthetic, instead of using the bloated corpses of his crew to form a makeshift raft, the castaway will use cat-girls to build a really sweet mech.

Director needs ugly people for his film; insults Virginians

From bloodydisgusting, A movie about to be filmed in Pittsburgh is casting Gothic characters -- including an albino-like girl and deformed people -- to depict West Virginia mountain people. "'Regular-looking" children need not apply. That's the gist of an open casting call for paid extras for Shelter, a horror film starring Julianne Moore that will begin shooting in Pittsburgh in March, reports Pittsburghlive. You can read the INSANE story inside.

The casting call scheduled for Sunday invites "men and women of all races, 18 or older," to try out as extras, according to the announcement from Downtown-based Donna Belajac Casting. But the extras wanted for the West Virginia scenes evoke images of "Deliverance" and "The Hills Have Eyes."

"It's the way it was described in the script," Belajac said Monday. "Some of these 'holler' people -- because they are insular and clannish, and they don't leave their area -- there is literally inbreeding, and the people there often have a different kind of look. That's what we're trying to get."

Belajac said the announcement was not meant to stereotype people from West Virginia. But state officials and a history professor called it "unfortunate" that such unfair views of people are being repeated.

"They clearly are not trying to create the image of a quaint, homespun mountain family," said Kevin Barksdale, assistant history professor at Marshall University in Huntington, W.Va. "Clearly, what they're trying to establish is this notion of the hillbilly monster."

Appalachia as a setting in a horror flick is an old motif, but such an open appeal for stereotypical mountain people is unusual, Barksdale said.

The announcement -- which was sent out in a news release and posted on the casting company's Web site -- asked for people with the following attributes:

"Extraordinarily tall or short. Unusual body shapes, even physical abnormalities as long as there is normal mobility. Unusual facial features, especially eyes."

The announcement requests "a 9-12-year-old Caucasian girl with an other-worldly look to her."

"Could be an albino or something along those lines -- she's someone who is visually different and therefore has a closer contact to the gods and to magic. 'Regular-looking' children should not attend this open call.'"

Asked if she felt the characterization might be offensive to West Virginians, Belajac said: "We tried to word it in a way that's not offensive. I hope it's not an offensive thing. It's not meant to be a generalization about everyone in West Virginia. That's why we put that it's in a 'holler' in the mountains."

Pamela Haynes, director of the West Virginia Film Office, said, "It's unfortunate they actually have to name a place, as opposed to being Anywhere, U.S.A."

"But I also think the typical movie-going public recognizes that it is just a movie and is intelligent enough to make their own conclusions that these are not accurate representations of West Virginia and its people," Haynes said.

"From the standpoint of being a lifelong West Virginian, it's upsetting, because there are so many wonderful people to come out of this area," said Jeff Pierson, director of arts for the West Virginia Division of Culture and History.

"We have a rich heritage and a strong cultural backbone," Pierson said. "There are so many positive stories that come out of this state and never get told."

"Shelter" is a supernatural horror thriller being produced by Los Angeles-based Nala Films. The budget is in the $22 million to $25 million range and will be financed through Nala Investments, parent of Nala Films, according to Variety.

The reference to needing an "albino or something along those lines" is because "we need a little girl who looks different," Belajac said.

"There is a granny who is a 'holler witch' who does magical things, She's blind because she's ancient, and this little girl is her eyes. She needs to look odd. She either needs unusually eerie eyes or pale skin," Belajac said.

New Line Has Folded!

From moviesonline, New Line has always been known by most as the house that Freddy Krueger built. The Nightmare on Elm Street franchise helped build New Line into a massive juggernaut.. For a while. After whispers that the studio was closing its doors for good it has become official.

The Movie Blog has just posted a letter they received from New Line that you can check out below that reveals all the details of what will happen to the studio.

"February 28, 2008
To: New Line Colleagues
From: Bob Shaye and Michael Lynne
Subject: Our Company

This afternoon, Time Warner is announcing that New Line will become a unit of Warner Bros. This is, of course, a very difficult and emotional time for all of us who have worked at New Line. While there is not much we can say that can lessen the impact of this announcement, we did want you to know about the decision before you read about it in the press.

New Line will maintain its own identity and will continue to produce, market, and distribute movies. But New Line will now do so as part of Warner Bros. and will probably be a much smaller operation than in the past. Time Warner hopes that operating New Line as a unit of Warner Bros. will allow New Line to focus on the creative side of movie-making, while reducing costs and taking advantage of Warner Bros.’ distribution systems. The company will be holding group meeting with New Line employees tomorrow in Los Angeles and New York to discuss this announcement, and is committed to letting employees know as soon as possible about how this change affects them individually.

For our part, we will be stepping down as Co-Chairmen and Co-CEOS of New Line. This was a painful decision, because we love New Line and the people who work here have been like our second families. But we will be leaving the company with enormous pride in what all of us at New Line have accomplished together. From its humble beginnings 40 years ago, our studio has created some of the most popular and successful movies of all time. Those movies are a tribute to the amazing creative energy and entrepreneurial abilities of the talented people at New Line. They are a legacy that will endure forever.

Although we are stepping out of New Line, we intend to remain actively involved in the industry in an entrepreneurial capacity, and will keep you advised of developments.

We thank all of you who have worked so hard to make New Line such a success. We are very proud of every one of you.

Bob & Michael”

Joss Whedon plays with dolls

From AICN, Fox ordered seven episodes of Joss Whedon’s new sci-fi series “Dollhouse” back just before the writers’ strike; the plan as I now understand it is to shoot the first episode -- and only the first episode -- in May, just prior to the following month's Screen Actors Guild contract deadline.

What happens next depends on how quickly SAG and the Association of Motion Picture and Television Producers hammer out a contract.

The series depicts a group of blank-slate secret agents who get different personalities, abilities and memories installed in her brains for each mission; all these attributes are also wiped away at mission’s end. The focus of “Dollhouse” is an operative named “Echo” (Eliza Dushku), whose memories somehow don’t get wiped away quite as thoroughly as those of her colleagues.

TV Guide’s Michael Ausiello now has descriptions of some of the “Dollhouse” supporting characters (though I’m not entirely certain if the language is his or that of a casting exec):

ADELLE DEWITT
The fortyish iceberg who runs the Dollhouse where the human Etch-a-Sketches reside

PAUL BALLARD
The thirtysomething G-man who is slated to become an offbeat love interest for Dushku's "impressionable" Echo

BOYD LANGTON
Echo's handler and father figure

TOPHER BRINK
The technogeek who enjoys his job as a Doll programmer maybe a little too much

SIERRA
The knockout Doll who is as close to a friend as Echo has

VICTOR
The distractingly handsome Doll who is called upon to play everyone from Errol Flynn to Robert DeNiro

NOVEMBER
The Tracy Turnblad of the Dolls

DR. CLAIRE SANDERS
The beautiful older woman with whom Topher is smitten

Note that all the blank-slate operatives have Whiskey Tango Foxtrot international radiotelephony spelling alphabet kinda names. (Can't wait to see who they cast for agents Zulu and Hotel!)

Official Star Trek HELMET

I spotted this for sale on Ebay but I didn't go for it. I'm not sure which I like more, the bold stickers that say SPOCK and KIRK, the little black sciencey doodads sticking up behind the siren, or the unmitigated gall that allows one to slap the word "official" on an item like that.

Maybe we should all get them, and make sure that nobody in our homes ever watches Original Trek without one. After all, it's official!

As Requested by JSP/Run Fluffy Bunny Run

Just for you JSP, one Camel Spider, and one picture of a Camel Spider bite....enjoy.

Fluffy Bunny

In the belief that the problem isn't horrifying images on the blog as much as it's horrifying images at the top of the blog, I offer the above image as a neutralizing agent for my post below. This way you won't be assaulted with sludge, needle-eyes, subterranean penii or Paris Hilton every time you look us up or refresh your screen.

Nice bunny. Fluffy bunny.

I got yer buck-toothed penis eyeball tattoo right here

Difference is, this is in my house. Yep, some apartmental plumbing problem decided to manifest in our bathroom last night, and right now there's two guys in the crawlspace with power tools lopping off sections of pipe. I should've been at work more than three hours ago, and instead I'm stuck at home in my PJs goofing on the blog and.... Okay, that last part's not so bad, but did I mention the square yard of silty sludge in my shower? Oh, I did?

And, I haven't been able to take a shower. The original title of this post was "Octopunk takes the morning off, is still stinky."

UPDATE: Well, at about 4:30 in the afternoon the dudes finally worked it out. Turns out the pipes were clogged with hundreds of naked mole rats, squirming around like fat, hideous sausages.

Okay, it was actually hair.

Entertaining kids, Schwarzenegger style

SACRAMENTO, California (AP) - Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger says he asked an Ohio museum to return his Austrian army tank because he was concerned about the upkeep and wants to offer rides to schoolchildren.

Schwarzenegger, a native of Austria, said he plans to offer the rides to inner-city children in the Los Angeles area as a reward for staying in school, avoiding drugs and working hard.

Warren Motts, founder and director of Motts Military Museum, said Schwarzenegger acquired the M47 American-made tank from the Austrian government and had it shipped to Florida. He transported it to a Columbus, Ohio, shopping mall in 1999 when he opened a Planet Hollywood there.

Schwarzenegger lent the tank to the museum, located in Groveport, in 2000.

"I'm pleased we had the opportunity to have it and let people see it," Motts said Tuesday. "It was neat to have a Hollywood connection."

Motts said the tank was removed from the museum Feb. 19, hoisted by crane onto a truck and transported to California.

Aaron McLear, Schwarzenegger's press secretary, said the governor plans to store the tank at a private location.

Schwarzenegger said he had offered trips to his movie sets as an incentive to kids, but since he became governor and stopped making movies in 2003, he hasn't had anything enticing to offer.

He said children just aren't that excited about a tour of the state Capitol.

Schwarzenegger entered the army in 1965, at a time when one year of military service was compulsory in Austria.

Mushroom Clown

While I was hunting for clown pix I found this, which is part of an ad for the PS3. I like.

Whew! That's better.

Don't fret the eyeball needle, here's a picture of a funny clown!

Whoops! Scary clown! Scary!

Eyeball Tattoos Give Me The Heebie Jeebies

From geekology, A Toronto man nicknamed Pauly Unstoppable has been the first person to receive an experimental "eyeball tattoo". Basically a tattoo artist injected blue ink into Pauly's eye until it was completely blue -- some 40+ injections! Holy hellfire, shit and brimstone this guy is freaking nuts. Pauly had the following to say about the experience:

I really have to emphasize again that the procedure was extensively researched and done by people who were aware of the risks and possible complications and that it should not be casually attempted. Now that this experiment has been started, please wait for us to either heal or go blind before trying it.
Nice Mr. Unstoppable, nice. You are truly a testament to the strength of the human spirit. Willing to go blind for the sake of, uh, blue eyeballs.

An Interview With Gene Roddenberry Sheds Interesting Light On TREK Franchise Development & Reveals That He Almost Pulled A JJ!!

From AICN, An(excuse the term) fascinating audio interview with Gene Roddenberry is posted at tcm-productions.com.

The interview was conducted in 1976, as STAR TREK was in the midst of its fabeled resurgence. A STAR TREK "movie" was in the works, although many details had not been finalized (a guest starring role for Bob Newhart?)

The interview is broken into three parts, chronicling the development of chracters (specifically Kirk - why he evolved from "April" to "Pike" to "Kirk" and whatnot), the rise of STAR TREK merchandising, and finally bringing the franchise back to screens.

One interesting tidbit here is that, while developing the project that would become STAR TREK: THE MOTION picture, Roddenberry considered a film that (in essence) sounds like what J.J. Abrams and his gang are doing with the new movie. I.e. the early days of Kirk and Spock, how the Enterprise crew came together, and what not.

This specific part of the interview can be accessed HERE. ALL sections of the interview can be found THROUGH THIS LINK(click "productions")!

Lots of cool insight and perspective here. TREK fans and pop culture junkies in general might find this fun.

The Trailer for Tarsem Singh's 'The Fall' is Online (guy who made The Cell)

From cinematical, Say what you want about Tarsem Singh, but you can't deny the man has a way with art direction. If you don't believe me, take a look at the trailer over at IGN for Singh's fantasy film, The Fall. Dan Gilroy's story focuses on a young girl in a hospital who befriends an American actor. The tales he tells her to pass the hours begin to bleed into the real world and suddenly everyone around her becomes part of the story. Lee Pace *(Friday Night Lights) stars as the storytelling actor, and Catinca Untaru as his captive audience. The trailer might not explain much about the film, but it now carries the seal of approval from respected directors David Fincher and Spike Jonze in the form of a 'so and so presents'. You never know, maybe it was their combined star power that helped get the film a deal with Roadside Attractions.

Unfortunately for Singh, his film career has been filled with very few ups and plenty of downs. Despite his success with music videos, critical response to his debut film, The Cell, wasn't exactly encouraging. As of late, it hasn't gotten much better for the director, and he was recently replaced by David Slade (30 Days of Night) as director on the thriller Unthinkable. The Fall is proving to be no exception to Singh's track record in Hollywood. The film was completed back in 2006, and only a few people got the chance to actually see it when it premiered at TIFF. Hopefully putting Fincher and Jonze's name on the marketing is going to help draw an audience. The Fall is expected to go into limited release in March.

Synopsis from britfilms, Los Angeles, cira 1920s, a little immigrant girl finds herself in a hospital recovering from a fall. She strikes up a friendship with a bedridden man who captivates her with a whimsical story that removes her far from the hospital doldrums into the exotic landscapes of her imagination. The man has ulterior motives, and the fanciful story he tells masks his profound depression. Making sure he keeps the girl interested in the story he interweaves her family and people she likes from the hospital into his tale. Once she’s hooked, he’s able to persuade the child to provide him with pills so he can 'sleep'. But in her innocence and unassuming love for him, the little girl changes the man’s will, giving him hope and a deep affection for her.

Optical Illusion Made Me Lose My Lunch

Galactus Being Saved for Silver Surfer

From SHH, Possibly one of the biggest disappointments for any comic book fan seeing last year's Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer was that the world-devouring entity known as Galactus was barely shown, looking more like a giant storm cloud than the immense being with the spiked headpiece and purple outfit that we've come to know and love since his introduction during Stan Lee and Jack Kirby's run on the characters.

Well, have no fear, true believers, because the planned Silver Surfer prequel movie will give the fans what they want, a much better look at Galactus, at least according to the film's screenwriter, J. Michael Straczynski, who mentioned this at his Wondercon Spotlight panel.

As Newsarama reports from the panel:

For what the Silver Surfer movie entails Straczynski says it will cover the origin of the character. He said it will feature Galactus, noting that the latest Fantastic Four film held off on showing Galactus to reveal him for this film.

How Many Jokes Can You Cram on the 'Superhero Movie' Poster?

From iwatchstuff, Let's count!

1. Simon Rex's equivalent of The Human Torch has caught himself on fire. See, traditionally The Human Torch has the power to manipulate fire at will. Why would he catch himself on fire?!

2. Wolverine is using said fire to roast marshmallows--on his claws! One would normally use a device that is not part of their mutant anatomy, like a long fork that doesn't come out of your wrist.

3. Leslie Nielsen's shirt says "With great power comes hot bitches"; the actual Spider-Man quote is "With great power comes great responsibility." This is funny because it's like a BustedTee, which are always funny.

4. Wolverine's middle claw is slightly longer than the other two. Those familiar with gestural expletives will love this one.

5. Storm is surprised she's electrocuting Professor X's penis.

6. The Cerebro helmet Professor X wears to focus his psychic powers is being used as a drink hat, an established comic prop. And he's black.

7. Though not explicitly laid out, the maturity of the rest of the gags imply Dragonfly guy probably has his penis in the popcorn. And he's giving Pamela Anderson a wet willy, which is sort of a joke if you're 8 and disgusting.

8. Pamela Anderson wears a necklace that says "Dynamic Duo". This term is synonymous with fictional crimefighters Batman and Robin, but holds a lewder meaning when balanced across Anderson's un-aging cleavage.

9. The unfortunate participation of all these desperate actors.

Did I miss any? It's hard for me to see them with my eyes squinted in unending laughter.

"Indiana Jones" Making Cannes Premiere

From darkhorizons, ox News reports that Spielberg's representatives trying to secure "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal" as the opening film of this year's Cannes Film Festival which starts May 15th.

This would mark the worldwide premiere of the adventure sequel and the whole cast and crew would make an appearance on the red carpet at Cannes's Palais.

Word has it that Paramount is also not planning any press screenings or junkets from the film, making that the first and only public screening of the film before its May 22nd 2008 release.

Things I learned from Wondercon 2008

I learned that I love my recently purchased Wicker Man poster so much that it's interfering with every other aspect of my life. Seriously, isn't she a beauty?

Warner Bros. to serve 'Justice' in '09

From variety, Now that the writers strike has been resolved, Warner Bros. is pushing ahead with its plans to make "Justice League" in time for a 2009 debut.

Warners tried to get "Justice League" into production earlier, but put it on indefinite hold in January, allowing the cast options to expire (Daily Variety, Jan. 16). At the time, the studio said it didn't want to move ahead until the scribes had another shot at the script.

Scribes Kieran and Michele Mulroney are busy polishing up the script, which is expected back at the studio in several weeks, and the cast has been advised to keep training for their superhero roles. Director George Miller is in pre-production in Australia.

Adam Brody, cast as the Flash, is the biggest star in the superhero lineup. Rapper Common nabbed the Green Lantern role; other roles went to lesser-known thesps such as Armie Hammer Jr. (Batman) and Megan Gale (Wonder Woman).

"Justice League," based on a DC Comic, is a huge priority for the studio and considered a launching pad for future superhero projects down the line.

Warners needs another tentpole for its 2009 slate, which is a little thin at the moment. Studio had been vying for Roland Emmerich's "2012," but that project went to Sony. The studio just scheduled "Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins" for May 22 and Spike Jonze's "Where the Wild Things Are" for Oct. 16. The only other pic it has dated is Zack Snyder's "Watchmen," set for release March 6.

Starship Troopers 3 trailer

From worstpreviews, The trailer for the upcoming third installment in the "Starship Troopers" franchise has been released. While the effects are not spectacular, it is still done in a recruitment style and features lots of bugs being killed.

In the movie, entitled "Starship Troopers 3: Marauder," Casper Van Dien is back to reprise his role as Johnny Rico, who is now a general and is forced to return to the military to fight the big bugs.

The new $20 million film is written and directed by Edward Neumeier, who will be making his helming debut, but has previously written scripts for "Robocop" and the original "Starship Troopers." Similar to the terrible sequel, "Starship Troopers 2: Hero of the Federation," the third installment will go directly to DVD.

Horrible happenings alert, King, Mellencamp Team for Musical

FROM (AP) – Stephen King has written the script for Ghost Brothers of Darkland County, a stage musical scored by John Mellencamp. The production will open at Atlanta's Alliance Theatre in April 2009 with the aim of an eventual Broadway run. The production is being described by the theater as ''a sultry Southern gothic mystery with a blues-tinged, guitar-driven score.'' The story is about the deaths of two brothers and a young girl and the legend that grows out of the tragedy. The concept came from Mellencamp, who said he heard the tale years ago in his hometown of Seymour, IN. (AP via Yahoo!)

Son of the Last Starfighter?

As a kid in love with both videogames and science fiction, few films simultaneously terrified me and fired my imagination like The Last Starfighter. You remember it, the 1984 movie about a kid who plays videogames and gets recruited by a space organization to put his joystick skills to use defending the galaxy from a nasty invasion. I always ran and hid behind the couch during the scene where Centauri pops out his eyes. Now the plot sounds a little silly, but The Last Starfighter is a great, classic sci-fi flick. A classic which is on its way to being revisited.

I’ve heard vague rumblings in recent years that a sequel might be in the works, and now it looks like it’s actually happening. It is currently on the production schedule for a company called George Paige and Associates, and they list it as being distributed by Warner Brothers and Universal Pictures. Tonight I got an email from a scooper going by the name of ZondoDon, who claims that not only is it on the schedule, it’s about to start shooting next month.

He adds: “It involves original director Nick Castle, writer Jonathan Betuel and actor Lance Guest. It's your basic Son of the Starfighter storyline and actually sounds pretty cool.” A teenage Guest starred in the original movie, so if they really are pursuing a Son of the Starfighter plot, it makes sense that they’d want him back… assuming of course any of Zondo’s scoop is true.

It does seem to check out. For instance George Paige really does have this listed on their upcoming slate of films. It’s a little outside the normal fare of low budget work they’ve been credited with in the past, but some sort of Last Starfighter sequel definitely seems to be happening over there. As for whether or not it’ll actually be a Son of Starfighter movie, consider that a wild (and exciting) rumor until we can get more confirmation. With any luck, I may have something more by tomorrow.

Something tells me that this film is great

Reagan/Gorbachev Reykjavik Summit Will Make Riveting Film

From iwatchstuff, As times goes on--possibly as a sign of impending dementia--Ridley Scott has been taking on projects that seem increasingly likely to be incredibly boring. The director, known for directing two of the best sci-fi films ever made (Alien and Blade Runner), announced last year that he was interested in developing a Monopoly movie, and now the director is adding the inherently exciting 1986 Reykjavik Reagan/Gorbachev summit to his list:

Scott, who has not made a final decision on whether he will direct, said he wants to be as impartial as possible in the movie. "If you do a dramatic version of an event, you have to get as close as possible to the truth. You need to make intelligent judgment call to get under the veneer of perception. It's like dramatized journalism," he said.
Though I clearly have my doubts, Alex P. Keaton insists it will be fucking great.

Jackman Wolverines out!

Norton Hulks out

From Empire, With a new trailer imminent and the actual movie less than four months away, Universal has provided us with two exclusive new shots from The Incredible Hulk, which both appear in the new issue of Empire, on sale from Friday. You can click the images below for a closer look.

The first image shows Edward Norton as Bruce Banner, on the verge of some major hulking out. The second gives the first look at William Hurt as General Ross.

We also spoke to the director Louis Letterier, who filled us in on what to expect from the return of the big green meanie.

"We didn't want to make a cerebral movie," he says of comparisons to Ang Lee's earlier film. "We wanted full action, Hulk smashing stuff up. But Ed Norton's script has given Bruce's story real gravitas – Marvel has always made their superhero movies with great actors to make it tangible and Ed has nailed it here. Admittedly, I'm not the most adult director, but just because we're making a superhero movie, it doesn't just have to appeal to 13-year-old boys. Ed and I both see superheroes as the new Greek gods, so there's a classical undercurrent to Bruce's psycho-drama. It's Prometheus, Pandora's Box, Hercules...but with explosions!" That's what we always felt was missing in the Greek myths.

Stephen King's Son Makes Film Deal

From worstpreviews, Dimension Films has acquired screen rights to "Locke & Key," a graphic novel written by Joe Hill that will be developed as a potential franchise.

Hill, son of author Stephen King, made his first screen sale with his debut novel, "Heart-Shaped Box," which Warner Bros is developing. Dimension bought film and TV rights to "Locke & Key" from IDW Publishing and will develop the property as a feature.

Story revolves around a trio of children who become the caretakers of Keyhouse, a mansion in New England that is full of secrets and magic. The kids discover doors that take them to different places, give them powers and even alter gender and skin color. Behind one door is a dangerously violent creature.

"I love what Joe wrote," said Bob Weinstein. "There are fun elements that horror fans love, and it feels like a franchise where you can feel satisfied with each film, but there is a door left open for the next one."

LEGO MP3 Players: The Best Of Both Worlds

From geekology, Everybody loves LEGO. Everybody loves music. So the LEGO-looking MP3 player just makes sense. Homade MP3 players (guaranteed to be built by an actual prostitute) are available in a variety of colors and each "comes with a built-in rechargeable Li-ion battery that should give you about 6 hours of play time." They run $46, but you'll have to supply your own microSD packed with music. I'm still considering getting one. I think more things should come with LEGO-like styling. Like food. And as unbelievable as it may sound, my petition to get LEGO blocks represented in the food pyramid has been met with staunch resistance. But I shall not fail: Viva la LEGO food group revolucion!

From bloodydisgusting, Ok guys, this is a whopper of a news post and I need to warn you that you probably shouldn't read on unless you want to have 20th Century Fox's X-Files 2 ruined for you. A month or so back a picture hit the web over at JoBlo, which featured a man on set wearing a werewolf mask. Then reports hit that this was all a set up for reporters in order to throw them off, putting an egg in JoBlo's face. We here at B-D know all too well that the studios will do anything to hide the truth, even if it comes at our expense. Now a new photo has appeared online, which is either a bigger joke from the crew of X-Files, or the truth blasting on the web at full force. Read on to find out.

The photo — which seems to be an FX house concept test (labeled 'Mulder Stage 1 Werewolf Concept') — would appear to show Agent Mulder (David Duchovny) in some sort of early werewolf transformation. Cinemaspy cannot vouch for the authenticity of this photo, nor for the credibility of the source (our email response requesting more contextual info was met with silence); for all we know, someone is duping us with a clever fake...but if it IS the real deal, it would seem to lend further credence to the werewolf rumors, or at the very least that the concept was under some sort of consideration at one point or another.

If this is real, high-five to JoBlo for scoring that amazing set photo.

'The De2cent' Plot, Writer and No Lionsgate?

From bloodydisgusting, We've discovered some interesting news over the past few days starting with the fact that Neil Marshall is NOT the writer of Pathe's The De2cent, although that is what the IMDB lists. In addition, we have also found out a little about the plot! In the sequel to Lionsgate's terrifying film, Shauna Macdonald's character of Sarah returns as a rescue crew finds her and takes her back into the cave to find survivors - where terror ensues once again. We've also been tipped that in the sequel you'll get to see "little" cave monsters in action. And lastly, there is a chance that Lionsgate may not distribute the sequel here in the States as Pathe is currently shopping the project around town. We'll keep you posted on any further developments.

Kirsten Dunst allowed in public

From thesuperficial, While her colleagues enjoyed the Oscars, Kirsten Dunst earned a brief escape from Cirque Lodge rehab facility yesterday afternoon and decided to shop at a nearby Target. I guess this is her way of getting back at Jake Gyllenhaal. That's some cold-blooded shit. If I found out my ex was shopping at Target, I'd kill myself. Mostly by playing lots of video games thus leading an increasingly sedentary lifestyle which could heighten the risk of heart disease when I get old. Yeah, that'll teach her. Just you wait 40-50 years, lady. It's on!
