Bug

1975 *1/2

An earthquake leaves a giant crack in the middle of a town releasing a scourge of big cockroaches that have the ability to ignite from sparks generated by rubbing their legs together. Resident mad Scientist James Parmiter experiments with the bugs as they wreak havoc on the town. He eventually discovers their hidden agenda.

Yes the bugs can spell, you’d think they would use this incredible skill to do more than just state the obvious. Although this was the mid ‘70’s and things were pretty weird back then. Perhaps the bugs just needed a hug or a self-awareness group.

Pretty poor example of a bug infested horror movie overall. All those bugs running around and I didn’t even feel itchy. If your hankering for some insect horror you’d be best advised to pass by this one, it doesn’t deliver the goods.

I just discovered roaches in my classroom and would be TERRIFIED if they could do math!

"A-squared + B-squared = C-squared, b*tch"

I'm struggling to come up with one genuinely scary horror movie involving bugs.

Maybe that bug scene in the King Kong remake?

I remember seeing this on TV! The commercials showed that one lady's hair catch on fire over and over.

I don't remember much about it, but it seems to me the bugs' rapid evolution was supposed to be scary. They got wings towards the end, right? My dad, a former biology teacher, kept pointing out which kinds of bugs they actually were. "Oh, that's just a South African cockroach," etc.
