Spielberg's video game

From CHUD, You all know the man's movies, but how many of you are aware that Steven Spielberg is behind some huge video game properties? Like Medal of Honor? Yeah, they don't talk about it much, but he's got his fingers in a lot of pies, that man. Almost 3 years ago he announced a partnership with Electronic Arts to create three new original franchises. It was said that he would be helping out with the storytelling aspects, but nothing was mentioned about what the games would actually be.

Well the first one has been revealed. It's a game exclusive for the Wii, called Boom Blox.

"Boom Blox plays on the enjoyment of building and knocking down blocks, something that can appeal innately to kids and adults of all ages," says Spielberg. "I am a gamer myself, and I really wanted to create a video game that I could play with my kids. Boom Blox features an enormous amount of fun challenges and cool scenarios for your kids to solve or for you to master together."

The game's an action puzzler with over 300 levels, where people can make their own stages and share them online with WiiConnect. I'm not sure how much storytelling this game will involve, but Spielberg's a helluva name to have attached to your game.

It will have single player, co-op and versus gameplay, and have all kinds of wacky kiddy characters, like chickens that lay blocks and baseball-throwing monkeys. There's a trailer online at the official site but it's currently getting pounded- you might not be able to check it out for a little bit. It definitely looks like some fun, though... let it load

Expect Boom Blox to hit sometime this summer.

So yes, Wii owners will have this exclusive title to love and cherish, but PS3, Xbox 360 and PC owners will be getting their own game produced by the man in the future. The second title will be an adventure game codenamed LMNO, and will focus on the dynamics between your character and a mysterious female character. No news yet on what the third title he's working on will be, but we'll let you know when we hear it.

Yeah it kind of lost me with the whole "appeal of knocking down blocks". How about a War of the Worlds game, Steve?

He should leave the videogame-empire-building to Lucas.

I honestly think I'd have more fun playing that Indy game.

I think "action puzzler" says it all for me. Where are the guns!?!

Or a sword. This is the Wii, after all. I'll need to be whipping the controller around in the air, frightening the cats.

This coming from the guy who owned Atari's "Math Fun"!

Math Fun? Say it ain't so, Octo...

Pardon moi. Math fun was a purchase made by clueless parental forces, the same forces that would bring home whatever movie Video Connection happened to have on a given night. Like that movie called "Water."

Did you have to watch Powder too?

I would like to add that those parental forces were also the ones who purchased things like Atari and a VCR in the early years...so they had some coolness.

Clearly disregarding "Math Fun."

It's true, Octo and DCD's parents were on the pulse! They were the first people that I ever knew who owned a VCR and Atari. I, on the other hand, would be the last to have these (for the time) awesome things.

Math Fun, heh heh heh...

And your parents never bought you Math Fun!

What about Gary? He had a VCR before us.

Oh yeah... Beta.
