Purei (Pray)

(2005)

Another Tartan extreme Asian flick, Pray is the story of a young couple who kidnap a little girl for ransom. They are hiding out in an abandoned school, where the little girl runs off and hides just after they arrive. As they are chasing her around the place they decide they are wasting too much time and better put the call in to her parents. When they call about the ransom, they're told that the little girl they kidnapped has been dead for a year.

Some other friends of the kidnappers arrive and the kidnapping turns into a chilling game of cat & mouse. The little girl at the center of it all seeming to be able to allude her captors with ninja skills. In the meantime, her grieving parents visit a psychic trying desperately to locate their missing daughter who has been gone for one year.

As with most of these Tartan films this is a watchable mediocre horror film. Tartan seems to crank these films out in record time so it's no wonder that most of them are just okay. The real surprise is that there aren't more really bad ones. Pray gets a little confusing at times and all the events of the evening are not explained. Decent time killer but no big deal if you miss this one.

Hmm, too bad this one is a meh. I like the idea of kidnappers getting piped in the ass by a little girl ghost.
