Somebody once told me (and this might've been you, JPX) that they saw an orange one of those on which the owners had augmented the tag on the side to read "Le Carrot."

My Aunt had one of these. They're kind of silly, but remember that it was the "gas crisis" era and everybody was going bananas trying to increase fuel efficiency. (They would be appalled at the SUV era.)

I always liked one element of the LeCar design: no fenders! The car's not long enough. The wheel wells are directly adjacent to the bumpers.

I don't mean "no fenders"--there's a better way to put it.

Also, Europe at the time was FILLED with little tiny cars. (It still is, but not quite as insanely.) Renault was pretty clever in following Volkswagen in making commercial inroads into the US markets by means of very clever branding and marketing (Calling the Renault 5 "Le Car," for example...pure '70s!)
