(2010) ***1/2
Paul Conroy, a civilian truck driver working in Iraq, wakes to find himself buried in a coffin in the desert sand. He has apparently been kidnapped and is being held for ransom. Frantic, and running out of air, he has little besides a lighter and a cell phone to aid him.
I don't remember hearing about this when it came out, but Buried is a tense and claustrophobic movie shown entirely from the point of view inside the coffin. Ryan Reynolds does a good job bringing realism to his character's predicament. A couple of plot threads intended to enhance the intrinsic drama unfortunately diminished the impact; if the director had focused more on the core story it might have worked better overall.
First rule of Horrorthon is: watch horror movies. Second rule of Horrorthon is: write about it. Warn us. Tempt us. The one who watches the most movies in 31 days wins. There is no prize.

I've had this in my queue for quite some time, glad to hear it has some game.
This might be the only thing I'll enjoy seeing Ryan Reynolds in.
What are you talking about? He was great in, well, um, never mind.
Ryan Reynolds did guest star in a very funny family guy episode and had a cameo in Ted. Both pretty cool. I agree, Reynolds did a good job carrying this movie considering that the entire thing is him in a box. The snake was a bit much though.
There's a snake!?! That should be in the title. Snakes in a Coffin, or Snakes on Ryan.
How about "Ryan's Snake"?
