From syfyportal, "Almost as if they were competitors, many children of the 1980s remember watching the animated versions of "Transformers" and "G.I. Joe" back-to-back. Now that the "Transformers" is getting a 21st Century makeover, it appears that its partner in animated crime (fighting) also could be hitting the big screen in a live-action remake.
Lorenzo di Bonaventura, a producer in "Transformers" that will be released to theaters July 4, said he's already interested in putting together a feature film version of "G.I. Joe," and would like Oscar nominee Mark Wahlberg to star in it, IESB reported.
The storyline likely would take place before the rise of COBRA, the hissing terrorist group featured in the cartoon version of the series, showing how COBRA Commander first formed the evil organization.
If di Bonaventura had his way, Wahlberg would play Conrad "Duke" Hauser, the field commander for the quasi-military unit. The movie also would feature Hawk and Snake Eyes for the good guys and Destro and Stormshadow for the bad guys.
A lot of what happens in terms of a "G.I. Joe" production apparently will depend solely on how audiences receive "Transformers" this summer. Any talk of a "G.I. Joes" movie is purely speculative."

Stormshadow was always my favorite character/figure as it's tough to beat an evil ninja.
To this day, whenever someone says "Now I know" I involuntarily respond "And knowing is half the battle."
Maybe the movie could have one of those PSA's at the end, although you know it'll probably be about movie pirating.
Oh! And you can say "now you know" about the origins of COBRA. Because nothing thrills like an origin story.
It's probably like the origin story of the Springfield Box Factory. "The story of how two brothers (and five other men) parlayed a small business loan into a thriving paper-goods and terrorism concern is a long and interesting one. And, here it is: it all began with the filing of form 637/A, the application for a small business or farm..."
