Moon

From cinemablend, Sam Rockwell has a knack for picking oddball projects. They don’t always work out, but you can’t accuse his filmography of being boring. His next oddity is a movie called Moon, in which he plays a man stranded up there in the sky alone for three years.

Even though it seems like this project was just announced a few weeks ago, the movie’s first teaser poster has already popped up online. You can see the poster to your right, along with a first still from the film over at QuietEarth.com. The poster looks a little like something from Solaris or 2001: A Space Odyssey, but I’m hoping this is more Robinson Crusoe in Space.

Here’s how Moon is described in its official plot synopsis: “Sam Bell is nearing the end of his contract with Lunar. He's been a faithful employee for 3 long years. His home has been Selene, a moon base where he has spent his days alone, mining Helium 3. The precious gas holds the key to reversing the Earth's energy crisis.”

Not to pull attention away from my son, but I wanted to comment on Moon:

It sounds like Mystery Science Theater 3000 without the jokes or the robots. It also sounds a lot like Dark Star and Wall-E.
