I am no longer a DW virgin. I feel so dirty.

Ok, so I took AC's advice on the first two songs and purchased "Bohemian Like You" and "Be-in". So can I hang out with the cool kids now?

You're still a virgin until you listen to them - Come on, buy some condoms and get busy!

Also, go rent the movie "Dig!"

ack miko i don't like the notion that you have to buy the songs... can someone teach me how to email tunes? i'd offer to mail cds but that takes me awhile (sorry johnny).

johnny sweatpants: the dandys web guys finally figured out that some people who registered for their new service didn't get goodies and sent a sweet email, so i should be in the system now for the poster, cd, and other perks.

miko, if you watch DIG! (which i highly recommend) be prepared to witness drug use, insanity, tattoos, profanity, and maybe a little frontal nudity (guys is zia topless in DIG! at all?).

Yeah, ac is correct, JSP can send you songs, he has everything the Dandys have ever done.

AC, I can't wait for this concert!

"be prepared to witness drug use, insanity, tattoos, profanity, and maybe a little frontal nudity"

No problem that just sounds like a Tuesday night for me. (I can't even type this with a straight face...I AM familiar with insanity)

JSP, I'll get it to you, and I like when you talk dirty.

Zia can be glimpsed topless in the opening few seconds of the film. Sadly, that's all we get.

BTW: First impressions.

I loved Bohemian, I will love it 100 times more if you confirm that he was making fun of the people he was singing about.....

Be-In, not so much. I was working at the time, and listened through the computer, so I will withhold final judgement until I can give it proper attention.

Miko, try "We Used to be Friends", it's one one of my favorites. They have several styles of music, which is why you're probably having different reactions. Don't forget, you can hear a lot of this stuff from the official site.

lol miko, i just didn't want you to watch DIG! in front of your kids.

i swear on courtney's leather boots that "bohemian" is totally making fun of the people they are singing about. if anyone disagrees i will forget i am a pacifist and throw down. and miko, if you like our dandys enough and see them live you are about 90% guaranteed they will play that song.

re be-in, it may be that you need more exposure, or it may be that you overall will prefer the rocking side of their music; that's cool by me. i favor that stuff these days myself (hope dcd doesn't find those songs too "yell-y").

based on the data we have so far, i predict miko will also like "get off."

AC, then I really love Bohemian. 'Cause we all knew the
Patchouli-soaked folks they are singing about (no offense to any who may exist here).

I have one serious question about you AC. When you define yourself as a pacifist, does that mean there is no situation in which you could be brought to violence? (This is, surprisingly, not sarcasm, I am truly curious)

AC said...

miko, of course i can picture situations in which i could be violent. i think humans and animals have fight/flight hardwired and i'm not immune. i prefer not to be violent if there is a peaceful alternative.

Well then, by that definition, sign me up as a pacifist as well:)

Yay, Miko! Welcome to the fold!

If Bohemian Like You weren't already JPX's favorite Dandys song I would have presented it in the music round up. When I worked at the Ocean Cliff hotel in 2003, I would often put that song on repeat for my 20 minute bike ride from the bus station to work.

And hell yeah they're making fun of the bohos! I love that the song is a boho guy hitting on a boho girl. And I love the use of the word "yeah" in the lingo. "You've got a nice car/yeah what's wrong with it today?" A small touch, but an authentic one.

I'm not against "yell-y," it just has to be the right kind of "yell-y."

AC said...

totally yay miko! :)

i hope the dandys are the right kind of yell-y for dcd. they are not as yell-y as 311 but they do rock.
