More reasons to hate the Donnie Darko sequel

From filmstalker, The sequel I'm pretending isn't happening is moving on regardless. S.Darko is the sequel to cult hit Donnie Darko, and will follow Donnie's sister and her best friend on a road trip. Turns out though, they plan on changing some of the things that happened in the original.

Could I hate this film before it comes out anymore?

There are films that don't require a sequel, and I'd put Donnie Darko in that category. Obviously not everyone agrees with me, Chris Fisher is directing a sequel called S.Darko, with Daveigh Chase reprising her role as Samantha Darko. The plot news we last heard had Samantha and her best friend on a road trip to Los Angeles. Samantha was going to be plagued by similar hallucinations to her brother, after her car breaks down and a meteorite hits while they are stranded in a small town. On board yet, I'm not.

Well it's about to get worse, the sequel seems to be changing a few details from the first. Cast member Briana Evigan who plays the best friend of Samantha has been talking about the sequel, turns out she's going to have the same time travelling powers as the younger Darko. On MTV through Rope of Silicon she said:

It's basically about going back in time and changing something. My character is named Corey - she's a selfish, badass kind of girl. She ends up switching a moment in time to take her life - [to help] somebody else, her best friend. It goes into all different dimensions, but it's really about turning something around for somebody else, and being able to go back and have another chance. I have the power too, it's a really cool, fun script. But it's darker, and I hope everybody understands it.
Are you calling us stupid? It was almost possible that the time traveling and hallucinations ran in the family, but to have someone else do it? Not only that, but they aren't willing to leave the first one alone:

We just come back [in time] and change what happened in the first one.
Making an unwanted sequel to a great film, without Richard Kelly who made the first is bad enough. But to go right on ahead and change what happened, please. Having loved the first I can't get excited about the sequel, it sounds like a cheap knock off version. Reckon I'll be avoiding this one.

Any Donnie Darko fans out there who want a sequel? Or should they just be leaving the first one alone...?

Yep, that sounds 'orrible. It also sounds like that actress had a very flimsy understanding of the plot she was involved in.
