WALL-E Voted in the Top Ten Best Movies of All Time

From slashfilm, At the conclusion of the film’s opening weekend, over 5,300 IMDb users have rated Pixar’s WALL-E, resulting in a 9.3 average user rating. This currently places the film at #9 on IMDb’s top 250 movies of all time, behind only Godfather 1 and 2, Shawshank Redemption, Good Bad and Ugly, Pulp Fiction, Schindlers List, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, and Empire Strikes Back. But with only 5,000 votes, the movie will likely drop on the list as more votes are counted. But the question is how far? The high placement is worth noting because it rarely happens. And when it does, the movie usually lands a fairly high placement.

Meanwhile, on Rotten Tomatoes, WALL-E has a 97% fresh rating with almost 150 reviews. This puts the film at #13 of all time for movies with 100 or more reviews.

Has anyone seen this thing? Is it worthy of all the accolades?

Not yet - dying to, but as I've mentioned, getting to the movies is something of a challenge in my life.

i do want to check this one out in the theater, maybe during the long weekend.

unrelated comment: the horrorthon team has infiltrated my subconscious! yes, my most recent dream was peppered with horrorthonners in supporting roles, all benign, but the oddest part was that is was mostly 'thonners i haven't even met. guess miko was right when he accused me of blog addiction after all. :)

What a riot AC! I'm with you though - I check this waaaaay too many times in a day.

I hope I was Superman in your dream, ac! I have the blog in front of me all day long (I'm not so sure how healthy that is), so I'm able to check it between patients and update it when they blow me off.

sadly jpx you weren't even in it (not that i remember). everyone was themselves. let's see, jordan won a prestigious musical fellowship to study piano in europe and my sister was tutoring him; dcd and i discussed european driving; and i called octo but when i got him he said he reallly hadn't slept much so we hung up. that's the crop. interpretations anyone?

"sadly jpx you weren't even in it"

I can interpret part of your dream: Octo really didn't get enough sleep last night and was run ragged by our demon baby.

Serves him right, though, because he slept a lot of the weekend and then flew the coop and saw WALL-E without me. He said it was awesome!

DKC said...

LOL! And where did we come down on the subject of european driving? For or against?

Julie, tell him that will cost him for a loooooong time. I went to two of the Red Sox ALCS games at Fenway without Katie a few weeks after Amelia was born, and I still here about it when momma needs something big to this day.

AC, this is a dream about a deep longing you will not acknowledge consciously. The key here is the recurring theme of Europe, both music and driving...Octo represented your subconscious and it's desire to stop resisting the purchase (to "hang up" and go with it).

Obviously...deep down...you want... a Mercedes, with a kick-ass stereo system!

(You know, however, that dreams are tricky things, it could be a BMW)

hear, not here

AC said...

jpx, i apologize for my subconscious leaving you out in the cold.

julie, i'm not surprised my dream got that part correct; if octo has a chance i'd love to see his review of wall-e.

dcd, we were just discussing the challenges to us american drivers. we weren't pro or con.

miko, as always, i think you've got it right! when my civic dies, i will definitely look into a kick-ass mercedes or bmw. maybe in the meantime i can beef up the honda's stereo?

JPX said...

ac, the Civic never dies! My first one lasted 11 years before I finally let it retire =)

AC said...

that's ok jpx, i was joking anyway. :)

miko564 said...

Well, if you were joking AC, then at least get the giant stereo and maybe the purple neon lights that shine from under the Civic...

(You can convince the unbalanced folks you work with, you arrived in a spaceship from the future...)

miko, you are full of excellent ideas today. i will run all my dreams by you from now on.

I'm full of something...

Umm...I know I was recently listed as "possibly deceased," but did I appear? Like, maybe as my avatar, Desslok, Emperor of Gamilon?

Because he's cool.

AC said...

sorry handsomestan; despite your cool avatar you didn't make the subconscious cut. i will probably dream tonight that you run for vice president alongside will smith in 2024. johnny "born again" sweatpants will be in contention for minister of scrabble but will lose out to jon stewart.

I like how Jon Stewart beats him at Scrabble. But I'm afraid there is no mortal being who can stop him at Boggle.

All will kneel before JSP. In Boggle.

Or so I've experienced. He's GOOD.
