TDW (approximate) setlist 6-2008

the world the people together
mission control
welcome to the third world
wasp in the lotus
you were the last high
all the money or the simple life
we used to be friends
bohemian like you
good morning
minnesoter
get off
and then i dreamt of yes
talk radio
love song
the legend of the last of the outlaw truckers
boys better
country leaver
burned

I'm drooling a little bit... the Dandy Warhols do tend to recycle setlists, so I bet we can count on a good chunk of the new album in September, plus some of these oldies but goodies.

AC, you've posted enough about your love of these guys, I have to give them a listen...

AC said...

it's not just me, miko; i think all three founding members of horrorthon love these guys. guess that makes them horrorthon house band?

Oh yeah. I went to a show with JPX and JSP in Boston in the summer of 2003, and I knew exactly one song by them because it was on the soundtrack to Something About Mary. It was a small club and we were right up front and it was grrreat. After that JPX gave me all their music and I've been hooked ever since.

Not a ton of my faves on that set list, but if I could hit a show this tour I would. But responsibility calls...

JPX said...

Awesome, AC! Where did you get this list? I can't wait. They're playing at a different venue this time, do you know anything about it? I want to be up front!

AC said...

jpx, i poached the list off the dandys fan chat site.

i got a batch of tickets for the show at the new venue- don't know anything about it except that it's near the boston common, a walk from where i work. they are general admission floor tickets so we may wanna get there unfashionably early and stake out the stage.

JPX said...

You got tickets already *gives ac a big hug* awesome!!! I guarantee that I'll be there super-early. I must be up front!

AC said...

oh yeah, i'm obsessive about buying tix the minute they become available.

full musical disclosure... i may be going to see madonna with some friends... kinda scared.

Miko - I love the Dandy Warhols dearly and have seen them live about 15 times across the country (and Spain). The best show I saw was at the Middle East in Cambridge during the 13 Tales Tour. They played into the wee hours of the morn (which in Massachusetts is about 2:00) and it may have been the only time I've seen them play Lou Weed live. (I love that fucking song soooooooooo much.)

I wish I could see them with you guys.

I'm glad they're playing a lot of new material and not sticking to the same old. During the Monkeyhouse tour they hardly played any off the album. Of course, no matter how "different" one of their songs sound on the albums, they all kind of sound the same live.

AC said...

what's stopping you johnny? come visit your parents in september! :)

also i am sorry i can't remember... how did you find out about TDW in the first place?

also did you go to spain in part to see them, or was that just a wee bonus?

Johnny Sweatpants said...

Believe me I'm considering it AC!

The Dandys weren't the only reason we went to Benicassim but they did have a hand in it. It was great to see them play in front of an audience they deserved for once. Xia was pregnant as they get at the time.

But Primal Scream were the ones that owned that festival. Seeing them live was as close to a religious experience as I've ever had. It was an absolute assault on the senses. Their XTRMNTR album was described as "war you can dance to" and I can't think of a better way to put it.

A friend of mine from Showcase introduced me to the Dandys way back in the nine seven. As soon as I heard the son Be In, I was totally in.

"song"

AC said...

yeah, i was just thinking what tdw songs to recommend to miko, based on our knowledge of his musical tastes, and "be in" was one of the contenders. i like be in cuz it showcases the trippy/mellow as well as the rocking/upbeat.

must also plug "bohemian like you" for that "catchy/ironic" dandy sound.

actually since miko has eclectic tastes he should just listen to everything and judge for himself.

AC said...

"sons"

JPX said...

That's a goo idea!

JPX said...

"good"

AC, I think I love you a little for coming up with so many different and nice-sounding ways to say my musical taste sucks...

AC said...

miko, i don't think your musical taste sucks! seriously, i'm not that diplomatic. :)

i think you had the spirit of "music friday" exactly right when you suggested your two country songs... and you got several of us to appreciate george strait, so i give you mucho credit.

AC said...

speaking of which tomorrow is friday... any thoughts for an impromptu musical posting theme? i will be hella busy at work but will cheerfully catch up when i can.

perhaps whirlygirl and jpx can clue us in to what the wallmart crowd is currently digging?

Johnny Sweatpants said...

I am still planning on posting my reaction from the experiment by the way. I'm almost ready.

So for this Friday's topic, howza'bouts "What is the saddest song you have ever heard?"

ok, johnny sweatpants! glad to hear you weren't completely derailed experiment-wise. i still owe you those zombies tunes too...hope to get em out soon.

AC said...

jsp, by "saddest" do you mean "would make anyone sad" or "moves me to tears" or "is extremely depressing"?

DKC said...

AC - go see Madonna. She rocks.

AC said...

dcd- have you seen madonna in concert?

Even in the most sexually liberated and self-satisfied of nations, many people still yearn to burn more, to feel ready for bedding no matter what the clock says and to desire their partner of 23 years as much as they did when their love was brand new.
The market is saturated with books on how to revive a flagging libido or spice up monotonous sex, and sex therapists say “lack of desire” is one of the most common complaints they hear from patients, particularly women.

Hey just joining, glad to be in! I'm glad to be here eventually, heading to post considering I've been reading a extended time.

I've been involved in some other forums and have located this destination to have a lot more effective content material, so it helps make sense to as a final point post!

PS, how do I change the time zone for my account? It's kind of weird having the time like 5 hours off lol
