Michael McKean, Christopher Guest and Harry Shearer — the actors who portrayed the faux heavy metal rock band in the 1984 mockumentary "This is Spinal Tap" — are leaving their wigs and costumes in their closets for the "Unwigged and Unplugged" tour.
"When we were doing the Tap show, it was 90 minutes to 120 minutes of really, really hard work and running up and down the rafters, and we had big special effects, and we played electric instruments, and we had wigs, and we got very sweaty," said McKean, who played lead singer David St. Hubbins. "This is none of that."
Tickets go on sale Friday for the 30-city tour, which begins April 17 in Vancouver, British Columbia.-Yahoo News

Thanks for the heads up! Shweeet! I always regretted not catching them last time they toured. It's worth it for the ticket stub alone.
Catfreeek, you caught them, didn't you? I seem to recall you had a funny story about that show..
I did have a funny story about them but it didn't include me seeing them, unfortunately.
The story is about an ex-boyfriend of mine, a biker named Space who looked very much like Frank Zappa. He was working as a roadie for Alice Cooper and he ran into Michael McKean at some venue. He said to him, "Hey, you're Lenny, right?" Meaning the Lenny half of Lenny & Squiggy from Laverne & Shirley. I guess the guys of Spinal Tap had a thing they did where they remained in character while they were on tour so he kept telling Space he didn't know what he was talking about. So, Space being the kinda guy he was chased Lenny into a bathroom and cornered him in a stall where the terrified actor finally admitted that he was in fact Lenny.
you know tap is one of my only remaining must-see bands, right? the boston show is at the wilbur theater- where we saw the dandys- and smack in the middle of memorial day weekend and i will happily arrange my plans around the show. there is a presale beginning tomorrow and if i am eligible for the presale will buy tix as soon as i can, cuz i'm crazy that way.
I would love to see them but I'm afraid I must pass. I already have six upcoming concerts and also Depeche Mode and U2 are touring this summer and I really want to see them, I just can't justify additional concerts as awesome as it would be to see Tapp.
apparently they will be playing as tap later in the summer but possibly just "a festival or 3"
*sigh*
Listen (shhh...) to what the flower people say.
johnny, you are willing to go to festivals so maybe you can represent horrorthon and see them all metalled out.
