It Does Feel Like Hoth: Star Wars Weather

From geekology, Star Wars Weather is a website by Tom Scott that gives the current forecast in your area in reference to a planet in the Star Wars universe. For instance, where I am now it's cold as shit and miserable as hell, just like Hoth! And in case you can't read the fine print it says, "you may have to climb inside a tauntaun for warmth". HA! Can you ever mention Hoth without making a tauntaun reference? Because I can. One time on Hoth I dry-humped a Wampa because I couldn't find any loose AT-AT's. TAUNTAUN TAUNTAUN TAUNTAUN! Okay, so it's harder than I thought.

As part of my job as a 2nd Assistant Director, I'm in charge of putting out the daily Call Sheet, which basically is a legal-sized document with all of the relevant information regarding the next day's shooting schedule: Call Time, scenes we're shooting and in what order, Location list, departmental notes, special labor (i.e. Pigeon Wrangler, etc). There's also always a section for Weather, in case we're going to be shooting outside, at night, in the rain, etc - people can bring the appropriate gear and be prepared.

In any event, in the few years I've held this position, any time the crew is shooting either inside a stage all day or a climate-free environment, like Los Angeles, the Weather Section turns into my own personal playground.

For two years at least now, I've done Tatooine Weather, Hoth Weather, Death Star Weather, and then branching out into:

Matrix Weather (continued protoplasmic pick goo surrounding our bodies, chance of black spinal cord tubes 100%),

Mordor Weather (giant fiery eye watching everything, mostly cloudy due to constantly erupting volcano), (which directly influenced my "Morodr Accu-Weather" haiku back on LOTR day),

Super Mario Bros Weather (Level 1-1: Mostly Sunny, Goomba Watch in effect, Level 1-2, dank and moist. High Koopa Troopa infestation). Among other such brilliant things.

As I am wont to do here on the blog, I just wanted to point out that I had this idea first, albeit for a very small (but appreciative) audience, and I'm just seriously so awesome.

Or so my robots tell me, Cat :)

Thank you.

Seriously so awesome except for those typos I didn't notice.

Ha! That's excellent, Stan! I officially endorse the comments of one of your robots (but only one).

I was going to make an Alderaan joke after I tried out the site a little, but it turns out the site says "It's like Alderaan out there" if you type in a city it doesn't know. Oddly enough, I had just typed "Beirut."

(But I misspelled it.)
