Lords of Salem

2012 ***

For the most part, I enjoyed this movie. I have a weakness for horror movies with Satanic Rituals in them, I'm not sure why. Perhaps my parents were involved and didn't inform me on their naughty secrets! I do know that they both loved Sabbath, Alice Cooper and Kiss.
Anyways, I do agree with the points Catfreek made in her review here Catfreek's Lords of Salem about Mr. Zombie making Sheri Moon look better next to the old hags and those glasses do make her look like Jamie Lee Curtis.
If you are a big fan of Sheri Moon's "acting", you are going to want to see his since 90% of the movie is all her. Also, I'm not sure if they purposely made one of her co-actors look like Rob Zombie? I really thought it was him at first when I saw the trailers.
My reasoning for liking this is because I like the settings of Salem(squeeking in the theater when I recognized a street), I like Dee Wallace, Ken Foree, and Meg Foster, the music played in the backround at times(Velvet Underground), and the witchcraft torture.

After I read the description awaiting it's dvd release, I found out that Sid Haig and Michael Berryman were in parts of the movie that were cut out IMDB. That was a little disappointing!
I was pretty satisfied that none of Mr. Zombie's music was included in the movie :)
"cross heater" must've been cold there.

Well well well, look who joins the party!

Rob Zombie baffles me. He perfectly captures the look and feel of the gritty side of the 1970s yet I never enjoy his work. I HATED his take on Halloween and I find the rest of his films chalk full of unlikable hillbillies. The fact that he features his wife in every movie is simply annoying.

I did like the old hag trio, best part of the film.

I need to see this now. I have a feeling I'll agree with this review moreso than Catfreeek's.

Love Velvet Undergound!

I dislike Rob Zombie's movies as well but I don't dislike him like I do, say, M. Night Shyamalan.
