From slashfilm, We were just sent along what looks to be the first official still and a UK poster for Disney’s upcoming Tron Legacy. Check them out, and read the official synopsis, after the break.
HeyUGuys in the UK got these images from Disney. They don’t show off too much, but the poster design is great, and very much in line with the Comic Con teaser clip. I like the austerity here; if this is what we can expect to see, I’m really happy. The original film had a fairly sparse look, and despite the fact that the Comic Con teaser was fairly restrained I’ve been slightly afraid that in the new film the digital world would be too cluttered. Doesn’t look like it.
If you’re hungry for more, keep in mind that the new video game will be debuted with a bunch of footage this coming Saturday, December 12. Can we expect to see a trailer this week?
Here’s the official synopsis:
TRON: LEGACY is a 3D high-tech adventure set in a digital world that’s unlike anything ever captured on the big screen. Sam Flynn (GARRETT HEDLUND), the tech-savvy 27-year-old son of Kevin Flynn (JEFF BRIDGES), looks into his father’s disappearance and finds himself pulled into the digital world of Tron where his father has been living for 25 years. Along with Kevin’s loyal confidant Quorra (OLIVIA WILDE), father and son embark on a life-and-death journey of escape across a visually-stunning cyber universe that has become far more advanced and exceedingly dangerous.

That poster blows.
Well, it gets points for having light cycles in it but loses points for still managing to be lame even though there's light cycles in it. The still looks pretty cool.

I've never been a fan of the "one number as a letter in the title" schtick, i.e. Se7en, Numb3rs, etc. It's usually just so jarring, and you have to think about the word twice. I don't have that kind of time.
However, I was definitely all behind "Tr2n," even though it's a phonetic disaster ("Tro-two-on?"), after I saw what they did with a transforming logo, where the bottom half of the "O" used one of the arrow-shaped pieces of the "N" to form the number "2." It was arguably the only instance of "numbers as letters" being used effectively, where the original logo somehow seemed prescient in its design.
Of course, with the current trend in Hollywood towards "reboots" and not sequels, numbers after titles have become anathema. So I guess I'll have to settle for Tron: "Legacy," (which I suppose makes sense with the whole Flynn's-kid angle), as well as eventually Iron Man: No Rust Yet. (And to close out the trilogy, Iron Man: Cotton Blend, No Starch)
I'm with you Stan. I can't stand that whole numbers as letters thing either! Lame-o.
You know what's funny? The higher the number is at the end of a movie title, the harder it is to drum up enthusiasm. For video game titles, it's the opposite, because the latest version of the thing is always more anticipated.
