Bryan Singer Leaving "Logan's Run"?

From Darkhorizons, "Bryan Singer is taking a break after wrapping up work on "Superman Returns" which means he may not direct the remake of "Logan's Run" after all reports Variety.

Warner Bros. and producer Joel Silver want to start lensing the sci-fi pic this fall, which would've meant Singer would end up shooting two tentpoles -- "Logan's" and a "Superman Returns" sequel -- back-to-back.

Even if he doesn't direct "Logan's Run," Singer is still likely to play some sort of role and perhaps take a producer's credit. "V for Vendetta" director James McTeigue is rumoured to be stepping up to the helm but at present its only speculation.

Singer himself is not expected to make an official decision either way about "Logan's Run" until "Superman Returns" bows in July. Assuming "Superman Returns" is a hit, Warners plans to start shooting the sequel in the later part of 2007 with Singer again at the helm."

I really don't understand why Singer would waste his time with this one. Logan's Run is LAME. Lame-ASS. Singer's thing seems to be bringing out the true version of the story, the right one we want to see (X-men 1 & 2, and I'm assuming Superman as well). The "right" Logan's Run would be sooooo dumb.

"They party, and you're killed at 30, except some people try to run for it, but a big robot actually snags them all and freezes them, and eventually there's an old guy in the vine-covered Library of Congress, who later for some reason the under-30's are all excited about seeing even though their entire society has just been destroyed."

In other words, this is one idea that needs to be screwed with to be at all interesting. Just make a new movie, dammit! New ideas! Go for it!
