For this week I chose my favorite topic. Compose a haiku about whatever you want related to abandoned houses (the appearance, the location, why it was abandoned, the people who used to live there, etc.). Make it funny or sad, but remember that this is Horrorthon so I do expect to read some twisted and frightening ones.
First rule of Horrorthon is: watch horror movies. Second rule of Horrorthon is: write about it. Warn us. Tempt us. The one who watches the most movies in 31 days wins. There is no prize.

(2007) * First of all let me say that as far as I could tell there are absolutely no dead teenagers in this entire film. Every year just ...

Oh how I must poop
Oh thank God, an old toilet
Oops, you do not work
Be careful, she said
I don't think that floor is strong
I should have listened
"Let's go in", she said
"I think it's against the law"
She was arrested
"I wouldn't touch that!"
"but it might be worth something!"
The tetanus shot hurt
decaying timbers
windows, mirrors black and cracked
ravens perch on roof
locals stay away
deterred by ghastly rumors
party starts midnight!
"This place is all trashed!"
Glass, condoms, and cigarettes
Stupid teenagers
Why did I return?
Only lost memories here
Everyone is dead
I want to go home
What did you want to show me?
Is that dirt or blood?
Johnny, that's great!
My heart is a house
Abandoned with good reason
Now I feel nothing
"It smells like old cheese"
"That's not cheese, it's gross urine"
"Oh wait, it is cheese"
"Is that a dead cat?"
"No, I think it's a dead rat"
"Can we go home now?"
Cold and foreboding
Frightened children spread rumors
We used to live there
Old walls are cracking
Reminds me of Silent Hill
Pyramid Head, run!!
jpx's haikus sound suspiciously like excerpts from his photographic expeditions with whirlygirl.
I'm still laughing at JPX's first one.
I'm still laughing at his first one too, and it's not from one of our expeditions...or is it?
Houses all boarded,
like ghost towns. Who is to blame?
Hmm, the monkey man?
I'm laughing at the cheese/urine bit! Disgusting!
Catfreeek I'm embarrassed to say I don't know who that is on your avatar.
Dark and delicious
Filled with juicy rats and bugs
Nice home for spiders
It's Carol Burnett...shame on you JSP
Yes, shame, on you JSP. I used to watch her show.
Playing hide and seek
Skeleton in the closet
He was never found
I sometimes watch old episodes on YouTube, she still makes me laugh.
I love when Tim Conway cracks everyone up and they can hardly finish the skit.
I havn't watched it in years. I used to think she was so hysterical. I'll have to see if she still makes me laugh.
"It sure is dark here"
"Stop tickling me like that!"
"Jeff, I'm not near you!"
Catfreek, I love,
Cold and foreboding
Frightened children spread rumors
We used to live there
What's a Tim Conway?
JPX - you should get Keith to participate in this one. I'm sure he'd disturb the hell out of us.
Well hello Santa
Why are you holding a gun?
Mommy isn't here
Stuck in the basement
Help, I can't find my way out!"
"You're in a closet"
Over there, she said.
I live over there, right there.
Come, it won't fall down.
JPX~That's true too. You probably remember the house in the field between maple ave and hilltop. There were rumors that it was haunted but my family lived there in the 60's
She led me inside.
She said that's where uncle died.
His ghost is still here.
But how did he die.
Drank rat poison in Kool-Aid.
I made it for him.
"Let's seek shelter here"
"What an awful, creepy place!"
"Get out of my house!"
Look - abandoned house!
Nothing noteworthy happened
It's just a lame house
Everyone did a great job, but there's one that I'm still laughing about.
Oh how I must poop
Oh thank God, an old toilet
Oops, you do not work
Congrats you're the winner, JPX!
I'm still giggling about the urine cheese too.
Congrats JPX! I'm still laughing at that one too!
Thank you, thank you, I'll be thinking of next week's topic...
JPX, stop commenting as me!
I missed the haiku fun. I did participate in a haiku contest that apple sponsored last night at midnight and won about 900.00 worth of stuff and a ticket to the keynote address at Macworld Expo next week. So thanks horrorthoners and Johnny for the practice.
Cool! How random that they would have such a competition. So let's hear the haiku!
Well the twitter update at midnight just said: Free Macworld Power Tools, keynote + show floor pass to first 5 publishable office:mac haikus.
I didn't know exactly what they wanted to I did one that was a little flowery and one that was a little more straight forward.
New year, new love found
No more holding two apart
I'm free, Office for Mac
The other was:
Together why not
Finishing business for now
Mac Office always
Any guess on which one they chose as the winner?
The first one sounds like the winner to me.
Because of holiday frenzy I missed not one but two Haiku Hump days. I'll have to make up for it next week.
Yup, that was it octo. Of course I now have free tickets for anyone that wants to go to the macworld expo because I can't go this week. :p
