My Stuff is in the Mall!

So I absolutely hate to shop, my Christmas shopping was done 2 days before Thanksgiving and I did it all online. Anyway, after begging and pleading with me Zeke finally convinces me to take him to Swansea Mall. Tony tells me he needs to finish shopping as well so off we all go. We pass this store called Great to be Green with a big sign saying local art & food products. Tony says, "Go talk to them" and I say, "Nah, they won't want my stuff" so we go off our separate ways. A little while later Tony finds me and hands me a business card. He says, "They want to talk to you. They looked at your website and they want your stuff." Sooooooo.....to make a short story even shorter the next day I brought my stuff in and there it is on display for all to see. We'll see how the sales go but I've got my fingers crossed. I just love my husband.

Oh my God, that's just terrific, Catfreeek! Christ, this blog is chock full of artists, designers, Hollywood folk, authors, photographer's, etc. Having no talent whatsoever myself I learned long ago to simply surround myself with talented people for a vicarious experience. The Swansea Mall is such a symbol of my childhood. Octo and I spent many a Friday night walking down its hallowed halls - hell, we even purchased pleather jackets at Caldores (a story for another time). Congrats, that's way cool.

Thanks JPX.
It's such a cool feeling seeing your stuff on display and people perusing through it. Swansea Mall isn't the icon it once was but, it's a start anyway. I have many fond memories of that mall as well. Remember the mall theater? I snuck into many rated R horror flicks there with my friend Michelle, they never seemed to notice.

Of course I remember that theater! That's where I saw a sneak preview of E.T. that contained footage that was later cut out (e.g., the Harrison Ford as school principal scenes). Back in the day Showcase and The Swansea Mall cinema were the only game in town. It must be awesome to see people thumbing through your stuff. You should ask the store if you can do a "Meet the artist" type deal, I bet you'd do really well.

Awesome, congrats!

Man I loved Caldor. I used to buy all my 45s there.

What's a 45?

Old man.

I still have a bunch of old 45's including an original British release of Ticket to Ride. It's nice to be the youngest of 4 kids I inherited all the stuff they left behind. I also have an original program from the release of the Woodstock movie, Men on Moon newspapers, David Bowie concert program from 1971 and a whole bunch of Barbies and GI Joes.

Cat, that is great! Congrats!

Ah the Swansea Mall...what was the name of the horrible mens/boys store there? It was full of "Miami Vice" jackets and "Members Only" too...

Miko lives!

What's wrong with Miami Vice jackets?

jpx, the pleather jacket saga sounds like a story for today. pictures of you and octo wearing the jackets would be a bonus. i'm assuming you were teenagers at the time?

Thanks for the votes of confidence, I'll keep you all posted on the progress.

Welcome back Miko!

JPX~Please tell me there is a picture of you & Octo in those jackets

Fortunately I don't believe such a picture exists. Octo might have one but we'll have to wait until he wakes up to find out!

The store is only there through December and part of January but I'm hoping to make some good connections between now and then.

"Wheah is theah? Who ah we? and why ah we heah?" HILARIOUS!

JSP, nope, saw some does, but my agreement with Amelia is that I am not allowed to shoot any "Mommy" deer...

CHESS KING!!!! Wasn't that the name of that horrible clothing store in the Swansea mall?!

Johnny Sweatpants said...

Hahaha - Chess King!

Our mother used to spend hours upon hours in the unholy store known as the Weathervane. They specialized in awful, just plain hideous clothing. The name alone still sends shivers up my spine..

Kill the mommy dear I say! They're the ones that keep reproducing and are thus the real culprit. (I hate deer.)

They're a nuisance around these parts. Because of the dwindling mountain lion population (the only animal that preys on those fuckers) have declined so much, the deer are everywhere, eating all the plantlife and messing up eco-systems. I read that Yosemite is having serious issues because of it.

That's great Cat!!!!

I don't have any memories of the Swansea Mall, and I may have only been there twice.
