Aw, he's standing in front of the Biggs holo!

Somehow the available range of Leia's arm movement doesn't convey enough sympathy.

Which Luke is that? When does he wear a yellow jacket?

Apropos of nothing (except Star Wars) I just realized something:

Luke and Han say goodbye on the hangar floor, while Han's fixing the Falcon ("There's got to be a reason for it! Check it at the other end! Wait a second") and all they say to each other is "Be careful." "You too." You get the sense they're going to say something else, but they don't.

And then they literally do not meet again until the conference scene halfway through Jedi ("Count me in too!") where all Luke says is "Hi, Han." And in the meantime he's gone and become a Jedi knight and all, and Han's had the romance of the century and been turned into a frozen gelato along the way.

I don't know; they just don't seem like buddies, and maybe that's a good thing. I always got the sense that Han rescued Luke (on Hoth) less because he "couldn't bear losing his friend" or whatever but because it was, clearly, the right thing to do, and he had to do it. (A "natural leader," as Leia said).

The widescreen DVD editions (old and new) of ESP reveal Han leaning on the wall, gravely concerned, while Luke is floating around in that big tank. The VHS versions of the movie slice this off, so the next time you see Han is "How you feeling, kid!" when he's all bluff again.

What do you guys think? Is this just classic movie male friendship where they can't say it (as they could, later, in The Matrix)?

Here I am with the info dump:

The Luke and Leia figs are the versions from the award ceremony at the end of Star Wars. And that looks like an interior that might be on the Yavin base.

Han and Luke meet again in Jabba's house, exchange jokes. Still kind of classic male friendship, but not as distant as your account appears (because you forgot about the first 45 minutes of Jedi, you senile old bastard).

That's TWO things I forgot, Junior.

I can't be bothered to count that stuff! I'm too busy with my funny books and ribbon candy.
