It better be a working lightsaber with every purchase or I'm not playing.
Or, it could be that the Blu-Ray release will ONLY be the OT, in its pre-special form, with all of those wacky Biggs Tatooine deleted scenes available.
SOmeone somewhere compared the Special Editions to watching Who Framed Roger Rabbit. Couldn't agree more.
Oh, and I think there may be Haiku Hump Day results up later today. Now that I'm back from the Dark Side.

Flanked by a legion of his finest Imperial Stormtroopers, Darth Vader himself joined Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment President Mike Dunn at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) to announce the release, vowing “The forces of the Empire will be at your disposal to assure the success of this endeavor.”
“The Star Wars Saga is the most anticipated Blu-ray collection since the launch of the high-def format,” Dunn said. “The epic franchise pioneered sound and visual presentation in theaters and is perfectly suited to do it again in the home, with a viewing experience only possible with Blu-ray.”
“With all six episodes available for the first time in one collection, this is a great way for families and home audiences to experience the complete Saga from start to finish,” said Doug Yates, Vice President of Marketing, Online, Distribution, Lucasfilm Ltd. “And with the quality of high-definition, Blu-ray provides the most immersive home experience possible.”
“The Star Wars franchise has been one of the most anticipated Blu-ray releases by Amazon’s customers,” said Bill Carr, Vice President of Music and Video at Amazon. “We think that Star Wars will be incredibly popular with our customers, and we expect pre-orders to be very strong.”
"...three distinct sets to meet the needs of every Star Wars fan..."
Except for the narrow demographic of Fan that wants to believe that nothing happened after 1983.
Sure, it's only a handful of people, i.e. every single Star Wars fan over the age of 12, but I've had it with this jerk.
I'll show him - I'm gonna WAIT until the 2nd Blu-Ray release of everything to get my Original Original Trilogy.
Here's a goddamned idea: Extra Special Different Editions of the OT with no stupid cartoons inserted, reshoot and amp up the lightsaber battles with stunt doubles and just rip Obi-Wan's face off (like the Dooku treatment in II), restore and insert the Biggs Tatooine stuff (which sets the mythology of everything up in a great way), Han shooting first (maybe shooting TWICE after all this bullshit we've had to endure), and leave the fucking dialogue ALONE. (What was wrong with just "Bring my shuttle"? NOTHING!!!)
I know I shouldn't get THIS angry about it, but I feel like I'm approaching a Jordan-watching-2010 level of rage here.
I want to know what archival material they're saving for when Blu-Ray is replaced by BrainRay Interactive Gel Pacs (TM)?
By then, it will be the generation that was raised with the idea that Jake Lloyd and Jar Jar made for some pretty fond childhood memories. Bonus footage of those shitheads I'm sure is lurking in the vaults somewhere...
What? No chub chub song? *punches wall*
Aw, I can't join the rage, I actually like the Special Editions. This Blu-Ray release will probably finally push me into buying a Blu-Ray player. I'm hoping for some good deleted scenes!
Love the undeterred fanboyism, JPX. Good on ya. Don't let these sourpusses get you down.
(The Star Wars hate stuff is awesome and hysterical though.)
