Is Your Friday Drifting?
I thought I would introduce some new music in the way of Andy McKee. If you haven't heard him you're in for a treat. He has, especially in this tune a textural, percussive and melodic feel for his music with some amazing technical prowess that is only sublimated by soul.
The 2 hand on the fretboard approach is the technique I use in a lot of my acoustic guitar songs and Andy employs it here effortlessly.
The tune is called Drifting. Hope you enjoy it.

That looks insanely hard. How big a group is there who play that 2 hand on fret style? Is that a pretty common stylistic variation? It's mesmerizing to watch and produces a cool sound.
You answered my question on the other thread. Your description is great but could cover a wide range of possibilities. Judging by the picture I'm expecting Jimmy Buffet..
I can't watch this until I get home from work but I look forward to checking it out!
I'll have to check it out when I get home because I can't access it at work. It sounds like this might be the perfect kind of music to have inthe background while I'm writing chart notes.
How ironic that you can't listen to it while doing so. Actually that's not ironic at all is it? It's more like rain on your wedding day.
That's amazing. I've never seen anyone play like that.
love it.
Cool. I check out the music that you all are into here and although this style is very different I sensed there was an appreciation of music regardless of style so I figured wth and threw it up there. Glad you enjoyed Johnny, AC and landshark.
Johnny your Jimmy Buffet cracked me up. :p
Landshark to answer your question there were very few 10 years ago but Michael Hedges inspired a whole generation and when he died Andy McKee took up the torch here. There are some really good ones out there and a whole flock of wanna-be imitators too of course. It is pretty difficult to pull off but it gives the audience something to watch when your doing acoustic fingerstyle that helps visually so I try to pepper my performances with several 2 hand on the fretboard toons when I play. I'll try to get a couple of mine up so you can see one day if I can get the sound right. One of the challenges is getting a good sound out of tapping the guitar and micing/pickups have to be tweaked a bit.
You played a bit like that when I saw you last summer, now. I just wasn't sure whether it was a common technique or pretty obscure.
I would put it somewhere between obscure and really obscure. :p
