Tina Fey reveals horrible childhood event
Tina Fey has finally revealed how she got her signature facial scar - and it's pretty ugly. The 38-year-old comedienne was attacked by a stranger in a violent slashing incident when she was five.
"It was in, like, the front yard of her house, and somebody who just came up, and she just thought somebody marked her with a pen," Fey's husband, Jeff Richmond, says.
Fey says she doesn't like to rehash the incident because "it's impossible to talk about it without somehow seemingly exploiting it and glorifying it."
But, she adds, she's never felt unattractive because of the scar: "It's really almost like I'm kind of able to forget about it, until I was on-camera, and it became a thing of 'Oh, I guess we should use this side' or whatever."

First, I have a huge crush on Fey, I think the scar makes her hotter.
Reading this yesterday, I was trying to imagine how long it would take for the person who slashed my 5 year-old daughter to die? I think I might hook up an IV to make it last a little longer...
I'd be disappointed by anything less than 2 1/2 days.
The detail they haven't mentioned in this is how old the assailant was. It would be a little less creepy if it was just some stupid kid, but the fact that they don't mention so makes me think otherwise. Suck.
Meanwhile, you are totally on about her crushability factor and the scar upping that factor. I'm so there.
Having seen numerous times how truamatic events like this can impact on a person for life, it's especially gratifying to see how well she is doing (or appears to be doing) in her life.
Yeah, not to add to the downer-factor of this post, but this happened in Virginia just before we left. Some 5/6 year-old was stabbed in his front yard by a stranger (adult) for no reason.
It would be less creepy if it was some idiot kid thing.
JPX, I admire your fortitude. (and AC's) I had to interview a few victims in the old days, and I usually ended up punching the wall outside the interview room. The release for me was contributing to the capture of the criminal. I don't think I could listen otherwise...it takes some special balls to do what you do!
Miko, I think the same could be said for any kind of trauma work. I can't imagine being able to do the stuff you've done as an MP, nor can I imagine being a surgeon (gross). However, with enough exposure you do get used to hearing this stuff. The only time it gets to me is when I hear about young children being abused, and I've heard some horrendous stories.
Fey has to be the most crushed on woman these days.
As for abuse stories, Katina deals with them all the time teaching special ed--I'm with miko--couldn't handle it.
I would also like to publicly profess my love to Tina Fey. I used to think she was the funniest woman on the planet but now that distinction goes to Sarah Silverman.
Also in the "crushing on Tina Fey" line.
This is a horrid story though!
I saw Sarah Silverman! She's one of my few celeb spottings here in LA. She was waiting in the long women's room line at a Magnetic Fields concert. Just as cute in real life!
Yeah, I was going to say that Sarah Silverman was the obvious contender. I like her comedy a bit more in small snips than in the extended versions on her show, but she's smart, funny, and hot, no doubt.
I've moved on from those two, though, and am on the Zooey Deschenel wagon these days.
I downloaded every Sarah Silverman episode and have been watching them in bed. They get funnier with repeat viewings.
Never heard of this Zooey character but I'm intrigued. She recorded an album with M Ward?!?!
