Candy is good and SAFE.

I know it's not exactly the most popular reading over here, but I do a lot of research and writing about parenting lately.  It's kind of become a major thing for me.  I just found this article and it seemed pretty timely with the candy theme.  Apparently the whole razor blade in candy, strangers poisoning candy, examine all the candy your kids bring home thing is totally, completely false!  Hooooraaay!

Great article! But in Halloween II a kid got a razor blade in the mouth...

We were just talking about that! That scene basically IS the "danger candy" myth made flesh. Who can forget the sight of that kid sticking out his tongue, revealing in stark silhouette the razor blade stuck in it, or the thick stream of blood pouring out of his mouth.

Two questions:

How did this kid do it? The razor blade was sticking out of the middle of his tonge lengthwise. What kind of special superfast apple eating powers do you need to make that happen?

And:

Why the frickity frack did his mom leave the razor blade in his tongue for a whole car ride? Wouldn't that result in many more oral injuries?
