It's official, a Zombie for Halloween

From Hollywood reporter, "Zombie plots new mayhem for 'Halloween'

Rob Zombie is resurrecting Michael Myers, one of the big screen's favorite horror villains. Zombie will write and direct a new "Halloween" movie, serving up what is being called as a brand-new vision for the long-running horror series. Malek Akkad of Trancas International Films will produce the feature along with Andy Gould of Vision Entertainment Group. Zombie also will serve as a producer and a music supervisor on the film. Miramax Films will co-finance the development with Dimension Films. The movie will not be a sequel or a straight-ahead remake of the original -- which helped director John Carpenter cement his name in the horror biz -- but a reimagining that will infuse new blood into the Myers story."

Hey! I never grokked the coolness of this: "Zombie also will serve as a producer and a music supervisor on the film."

Not what the sentence is saying, but that the subject is simply "Zombie." This has great potential for fun sentences in future: Zombie walks off set! Hollywood looks to Zombie for guidance.

Anyway, I guess a "re-imagining" of Halloween is as good an approach as we could ask for. Certainly better than a prequel. I just hope he doesn't re-imagine that Michael Myers hangs out with a bunch of bad-toothed, stringy-haired, loopy hillbillies that never shut up.

And no clowns!

I think the one thing we can count on is a much darker installment, which will be good for the franchise. Zombie might not be great at making films just yet, but his stuff is raw and has a 70s horror energy vibe to it, if that makes any sense.

Also, there's no end of scary pictures of Zombie out there that I can put on blog posts.

(See, I almost said "pictures of him" and then realized I could use Zombie. It's a whole new era!)
