Today news is coming out that Stephen Chow is now getting involved in a direct sequel to his film, Shorin Shojo which roughly translates to Shaolin Girl. The main difference this time is the protagonist will be a female actress Shibasaki Ko and it will be directed by Motohiro Katsuyuki.
According to Ryuganji, Shibasaki plays Rin, who returns to Japan after undergoing nine years of training in order to take over her grandfather’s Shaolin kung-fu dojo in China and ends up helping out a sport science university’s lacrosse team. Of course some of Chow's regulars will be on board as well including Lam Tze Chung and Kai Man Tin.
Shooting is expected to begin later this month and will run until mid-July. The release date right now is hazy but it looks like it will be released overseas in late 2008."

Well, that sounds like fun, but isn't it overloading the burgeoning market of lacrosse movies out there?
I still haven't seen Kung Fu Hustle. I liked Shaolin Soccer a lot but it was also plenty weird.
Hustle is even weirder.
Good, but weird.
What's wrong with weird? I loved both of those but then I watched King of Comedy (I think that's what it's called) and it was pretty unimpressive.
