Another Fat Orange Cat Goes CGI On Screen
From cinemablend, Soon it's going to become a challenge to think of formerly beloved 80s entertainment that hasn't become repurposed this decade for a feature film. Just last week we were hearing about a remake of Girls Just Wanna Have Fun and a Battleship movie. Now a figure of the 80s who no one even seemed to like that much, Heathcliff the Cat, is finding his way to the screen.
Don't get me wrong, I liked Heathcliff just fine when I watched his show as a small child in the 80s. But truthfully,I even remember Jem and the Rockers better. Variety reports that Magic Lantern Entertainment and FitzRoy Media will take over the character for a series of direct-to-DVD to cartoon to a "potential" live-action theatrical film. The idea, obviously, is to cash in on the success of movies like Alvin and the Chipmunks and Garfield: The Movie, which horrified fans of the original properties when they were first announced but then, like everything, eventually just got peacefully absorbed into the culture.
So does that mean we'll just take this Heathcliff reboot sitting down? Yeah, of course. No one even has the energy to protest this shit anymore.
